Turkish phone contract

I am looking to get a Turkish cellphone on a monthly contract.
I don't use the phone much so am looking at the cheapest option.
I don't want to keep getting a 30 day SIM card.
Plus, I don't live in NC but visit regularly.
Any information would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Go into a Turkcell shop and ask about their basic package. I have a contract and my monthly bills average 30TL. I don't know what it's called but it's just calls and texts, no data but there are lots of different options.

If you are actually referring to a TRNC 'phone package (as opposed to a Turkish one) then are you looking at a Smart 'Phone, or one that will simply make and receive calls and text messages?

The options and prices vary depending on what type of 'phone you intend to buy and what you will want to use it for.

For a basic 'calls and texts' type of 'phone, intermittent use only, then a PAYG SIM seems to be the obvious choice.

The SIM will go inactive if it is totally unused for 90 days, and will cease to work altogether if left unused for another 90 days after that. You can keep it active by topping up online within the 90 day period by the minimum amount.

If you have a UK 'phone on a contract, then a less obvious choice would be to get a Vodaphone SIM on a contract, which you can use freely in UK, EU and TRNC with no increase in cost - and you wouldn't even need a new 'phone, plus you can transfer your existing UK mobile number at no charge. This option will probably not appeal if you do not already feel it necessary yo have a UK phone contract, and just use PAYG.

You may find, if you are a foreigner, that you cannot get a phone on contract with KKTCell, suppose you would have to buy the phone outright and then either go PAYG or some kind of monthly package on contract. I believe that you can with Telsim, but only if you've been a customer of theirs for a period of time, but no idea how long.
