We've withdrawn lira from Turkbank using our Revolut card from the GBP account without charge, I did it yesterday. I'm pretty sure I've also done so from an Iktisatbank. I don't think there's a problem as long as you withdraw local currency, at least the ATM should warn you in advance. Revolut only charge (2%) if you go over your monthly allowance (£200 on free card).

You can definitely obtain TL with no charge using a Revolut card from an İktisatbank ATM.

Read through this thread where erol, alphamike & I discussed this.

Pay particular attention to the remarks on avoiding the bank's own exchange fee!

You can also withdraw Euros using the right cash point machines in the south without charge (within revolut's monthly limits for free cash withdrawal). This is the cheapest way I have found of getting both Euro cash from my UK bank accounts and in effect if I want Sterling also. In the case of sterling I move it from my UK account to revolut. Change it to euros within revolut. Withdraw it as euros in the south. Change it as Euro cash to sterling cash in the north at an exchange bureau. Quite a 'faff' but I am always willing to make some effort it it means depriving some bank somewhere of 'rapage' fees. Saving myself a few quid is just a 'bonus' on top of that as far as I am concerned.

We needed Euros last weekend for some work. Had to take it out of an ATM and was charged 7%! Didn't see anything about charges on the screen. Couldn't use the Revolut card as it was above the £200 limit. TEB was the culprit.

Was this in the North or the South?

I think that the charge for withdrawing Euros in the North would be a lot higher than in the South, and maybe even free, depending on the machine.

Yes sorry Keith should have said. Here by Lemar. Just got caught out by needing Euros. Thing is we had changed some from a trip we hadn't used the week before because we didn't think we would need Euros here. We are having to work out a way to bring money over here now without taking it out of the ATM and getting charges all the time. We have started using the Revolut everywhere we can even the supermarket shopping and save the cash for the odd beer and things.
