Mains water for Esentepe
Apparently, according to Cyprus Today anyway. Does that mean the same as it does in the UK, for example a fresh mains pressure supply straight to the taps, perhaps apart from solar hot water? Only reason i ask is that the tanks on my roof need looking at as they're not working properly - float valves problems, overflow, lack of pressure etc, and i was wondering with interest if this new mains supply would mean that i could look at doing away with the tanks as a cheaper option and being left with just solar hot water?

No, it means you will not have to have it tankered in. You will still need the tanks in case the water goes off, or you can do what I have had done and connect the mains water direct and have the tanks as back up if/when the water is off or low pressure, this works well.

Re: Mains water for Esentepe
We are in Barchelli and have had mains water installed since March, paid for by owners to pipe in etc. During this time even though we have lots of money on our meter a d have to pay a monthly charge for the water meter we paid for, we still dont get Mains water very often, we have to still pay for tankers. Been here for 6 weeks and only had Mains water for 4 days and when we visit the Belediye they just shrug their shoulders and look blank, so can only say water water everywhere but not a drop through the taps!!!!!

Ok, many thanks all. Makes sense to keep the tanks in that case. At the moment our supply comes from a pipe along under the road / path, into and out of a meter, into 2 mahoosive ground level tanks with a pump to 2 more tanks on the roof. One is solar hot water which is pretty much next to useless without the immersion on even in the mid-day sun and the other i assume cold water, but whether this feeds the hot water tank or taps i don't know. Only that there is little pressure without the pump on, which if left on we get a "nice" water feature from the roof into the garden. Hopefully we'll be out late Feb / early March and get it all sorted.
