Not as big an increase as inflation!

5 years ago, one GBP would buy you around 3.5 TL, today it will buy you nearly 8!

Turkey has to pay for imports in USD or GBP or EUR, we need to be grateful that price increases are not of the same magnitude.

In true expat style - I am not paying that increase, I would rather die first - Oh, just realised that I probably will if I don't! Must take a trip back to UK then and get a new prescription and some free medicine!

It's a very small price to pay to keep on breathing and enjoying life people and whilst I sit here in my - soon to be very warm and dry home in the sun - I can't help but think of those who have to rely on food banks in the UK to be able to eat. What have I got to moan about in the end?

Talking of medicines, does anyone know if Estradot (HRT) is available over the counter in TRNC? Big supply problems everywhere apparently and i think i must have got the last box in the UK in the week for Mandy. If so she can buy a few months supply when we're next over. I need to get a few months supply of Motilium anyway.

Not only have down South had a significant price increase but quite a number of medicines are not longer available to them.. Friends of mine are now, successfully with the help of knowledgeable pharmicists (not young girls who just flog you expensive creams and lipsticks), sourcing Turkish equivalents which are just as good if not better and certainly cheaper.

But the "Prescription" medicines in the South are now only 1 Euro instead of full price so why is everyone buying them up here - allegedly?

Not if you buy a prepaying NHS prescription •£29.10 for 3 months
I get between 12 and fifteen item in the 3 months so cost around £2 per item
I'm leaving now to go find myself....if I arrive before I get back, please ask me to wait!

TAC Do you nip back to the UK every three months? Do you ever think of those who's home is in the TRNC and chose not to do, but live life as it is here? I'm not surprised the NHS is in trouble. Surely not all drugs can be bought for the price you quoted. Maybe you actually live in the UK, if that is the case then you are buying drugs at bargain basin prices and the English tax payer is heavily subsidising.
