NCCCT
It is my understanding that the NCCCT bank account holds a considerable amount of money. In view of yesterday's fire at the main hospital can I suggest that this money is now used to help replace some of the things destroyed. As someone who donates and supports this charity i would like to see where this money is spent.

Re: NCCCT
Great idea. With something like 500,000tl in the bank, i am sure the Trust is constitutionally bound to assist. The system is such that the hospital needs to advise the Trust of its needs. I hope when the doctors have time, they will, share.
Actually your thoughts are the same as mine.
(For the record, those who dont know...i am currently Hon Sec to the trust, and happy to receive thoughts of forum members)

Marion in view of the circumstances i think it would be nice for the trust to approach the hospital rather than the other way round. I am sure they could make good use of that money

Very sad to see no comments from them, no replies to my messenger messages either. Makes me think there is something not quite right going on here.

Re: NCCCT
Whilst I agree to donations to the local charities of which there are many.
I choose who, why, where and when.
The state hospital is exactly that .
If I choose to donate my cash to a designated charity then I should have the confidence that the money goes to be spent on that particular charities work and not elsewhere.
Just my opinion.

Re: NCCCT
It was actually me that suggested that maybe the charity could help the main hospital and not Marion. This thread was not supposed to start any arguments but i had tried to contact the charity through their Facebook page, also sent a message via messenger and had no reply so put it on here in the hope of getting a response. Just a quick one liner from the charity would have been better than silence.

Re: NCCCT
Sorry Roman58, only just seen this.
I can quite understand your query. I will try to answer. In 2015 an EGM was called of the Members of the Trust (we had some in those days!) as it was felt the aims of the Constitution needed to be amended. The wording of the aims was changed to enable the Trust to consider the purchase of any piece of equipment for any TRNC State Hospital, or to help the infrastructure of the hospitals. ( I have a copy of this on file as I was guest Chair (as i have often been in the past) and could dig out the exact wording if you like. This was decided because there seemed to be a diminishing list of requests for items relating solely to cancer patient,s but an increasing list of necessary equipment for which there was not funds in the system.
At the same time lawyers were consulted about changing the name of the Trust to omit the word 'Cancer'. However, it was discovered that whilst an amendment to the Constitution was fairly straightforward - a membership agreeing and the matter being filed at the District office, the change of name was far more complicated, and it could involve shutting down the charity and starting up another. A huge headache. So it was felt it best to leave the name as was, . Of course, this was five years ago and although it was made public at the time, it naturally gets forgotten.
So apologies for the confusion, and i hope you understand. Of course, any piece of equipment bought for the hospital could help a cancer patient.
Incidentally several people who can't get their tongue around the right number of C's have suggested the Trust have another 'nick name'; such as Tulips has. Maybe the time has come, when we have members for suggestions to be put forward for consideration. Any ideas?????
i do hope this helps. Again, sorry for the (natural) misunderstanding.

Re: NCCCT
Maybe this will help explain (if it confuses even more, then I apologise) I asked much the same sort of question 4 years or so back and voiced the same concerns, after seeing in C2D the charity handing over a piece of equipment to one of the state hospitals. I wrote and enquired as to why this particular equipment. The reply I received was that anyone in need could benefit from the equipment, but it was hoped that someone suffering from any type of cancer would be given priority over a patient that didn't. Obviously the charity can't sit there saying "yay" or "nay" to patients and it was hoped the Dr's and Surgeon make a good call. I do sometimes wonder if this occurs or whether it's a first come first served situation. Hopefully not and that cancer is the primary sickness. I'm sure all the people who work so hard to raise funds keep on doing so. Way back they had to fight hard to come out of the shadow of Tulips.

Re: NCCCT
I for one contribute towards a certain charity through MY choice of that particular charity and I object to others who assume that they can use/missuse MY hard earned cash under a 'change to the constitution ' which is/has not been explained to me when I contribute.
A state run institution is exactly that .
I would like a defibrillator available in Karsyaka.
I would like the children's home in lefcosia fully fitted out with modern education aids similar to that given to karsiyaka school by the charity collection done at Jessics bar over several years.
I would like the old folks home in Lapta provided with everything they need to let the residents enjoy the latter stages of their lives.
The list is endless.
Finance raised for a particular purpose, in that name should be used in that name
I for one would not contribute to the rebuilding of a damaged state run institution which is already financed by myself and others in various taxes .
Answers please.

Re: NCCCT
This confusion was bound to come out at some point. During my very short time on the committee, I think the latest item asked for was a dentist chair which many of use felt was not the right thing to be paying for. Once I left the committee I have supported from afar but nonetheless still supported.
Asking a simple question on their Facebook page seems to have caused WW3 because Wendy has taken that as a personal dig against her. Things have turned very nasty at some points and they decided it would be a good idea to delete the whole thread. Marion who as asked to become a secretary and come under massive fire all for wanting the charity to be correctly but she has obstacle after obstacle put in her way making it impossible for her to do her job correctly.
This is my latest post on their page but i am also posting it here just in case they delete it again.
Wow just Wow My original post which started this whole thing off was a simple question that could have been dealt with by a simple answer. There was no hatred in my post aimed at anyone nothing more than a reaction to the fire. What has followed has been nothing short of school ground bullying and a public request for Marion to do the decent thing and step down to save face. Wendy I am now asking you to do the decent thing and step down as chairperson until a proper election can take place by the remaining committee and any new members. I am full of admiration for all the work you and the rest of the girls do but I think your position has become untenable. I will also be putting this out on Kibkom just in case you make the decision to delete this thread.

Re: NCCCT
Thank you for this.there is a bit of ''trouble at nccct mill' at the moment so wont air dirty linen in public but . I do want to clarify and try to answer Roman58's question, even though I have been told by the Chairpersonn of the charity that i had no right to offer to be available for comments to be passed on. (oops, dirty linen again - sorry)
It is quite understandable that people are confused over the 'Cancer Trust' which does not appear to purchase equipment solely for cancer. Times change things, and it seems over the years that what was started by Canon Arthur Rider as a charity to meet a real need, has seen the State more and more able to supply needed equipment. There is never enough money, and here, as in U.K finds huge gaps in what is needed and what can be supplied. Hence five years ago, the Trust felt it needed to broaden its aims. Maybe the time has come for this charity to cease to function as has the Red Cross, and the Heart Foundation (I believe it was). There is, as stated, huge needs in the community - old peoples home, special needs schools, the Kamel Saracogluy charity for children never has enough to meets its needs, and much more, so maybe someone will feel the need to start a new charity. Or maybe arrange stalls, fund raisers to give the proceeds to any charity or need of their choice.
You are absolutely right Roman58, we all have the choice of putting our money and energy where our heart tells us it is most needed.

Marion has my greatest sympathy in finding herself in the hottest of hot seats but on reflection I can't help feeling that it is really time for NCCT to have a change of name in order to reflect its modern/current function, thereby alleviating any further misunderstandings. It isn't easy to make any changes in this country and the legal hoops and obstacles are legion with masses of paperwork needing to be translated but I feel sure it would be the best way to go in the end.

Re: NCCCT
Received a text message this morning, in Turkish, asking for everyone to donate 5tl towards rebuilding costs;
Simdi destek zamani! Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu Devlet Hastanesi'nin yeniden yapilandirilmasi icin YARDIM yazip 2802'ye mesaj gondererek 5TL bagista bulunabilirsiniz. KKTC Saglik Bakanligi
Which translates to;
Now is the time to support! To reconstruct Dr Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital, you can write a HELP and send a message to 2802, and you can donate 5TL. TRNC Ministry of Health

Sorry, slightly off topic. But Brazens post has me asking this question.
The extra money obtained through residency , which must be a sizable chunk of money, has this been earmarked for something by the government? If not, then, repairing upgrading the state hospital would benefit all.

I see in Cyprus Today that the insurance company will pay out for the fire damage to the hospital in Lefkosa. So pleased that the NCCCT did not bow to pressure to donate their funds, which can be better used for treating cancer patients. Just my opinion.
