We have flights booked in 12 days time from Larnaca. Obviously can’t get to them now. Our 30 days permission is up then too and we need to extend our permission (we are property owners). How do we do this? Should we book more flights or just wait and see at this stage?

Take Back Control! Lots of flights from Ercan to Manchester one way available from Turkish Airlines. Not cheap but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and get on with life so you can enjoy the life you live! I know it is easy for me to say because I live here and I have some simpathy for those caught up in this pandemic but for now only you can make a decision on what is best for you! Right or wrong you need to act now before you lose the chance to choose.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

I would be extremely grateful if someone can confirm that I can fly into Ercan from the Uk.
I do have a residency permit.

Thanks in anticipation.

You can. Pegasus have had a reminder about what the rules say. It may change so I would do it sooner than later.

This was sent out by Naomi Mehmet on Facebook :

Many people are asking what they should do if their tourist or residency periods are due to run out and they are unable to leave the country or renew their residency during the Corona Virus restrictions. According to the information published by the Ministry of the Interior, the following provisions will be applied
Applications in person for residency are suspended
Online applications for residency are continuing
Applications for residency which have already been submitted will continue as long as this does not pose a public health risk
Those entitled to apply for residency but who are unable to do so during the suspension will be given a further 30 days after the end of the suspension to apply without penalty
Those who have entered the TRNC as a tourist and who have been unable to return to their home country during their tourist visa period due travel disruptions as a result of the Corona Virus, will be considered legally permitted to remain in the TRNC for 30 days. If necessary this may be extended by the Minister to 90 days.

Announced this morning only TRNC Citizens and Residents will be allowed through Ercan, and they will be subject to a 14 day home monitoring and control.

I don't think it applies to residents anymore.

You say it does apply to residents and then you contradict yourself. Why are you saying that? Do you have some information to confirm it or is it just speculation on your part? Really none of this helps anyone. Rumour mill at full speed ahead.

We are trying to get to N Ireland. Don’t want to get stranded anywhere in between so will stay put in our villa and go to police to get 90 days. Thank you for your advice and keep safe everyone.

My wife - NZ national with annual temp residency went south Saturday last via Metehan. She was, at that time, able to cross but on return north was told by north authorities to self quarantine, given and info sheet and warned there may be checks via phone or in person to ensure she is complying.

Things have moved on now in any case. My understanding is that anyone still allowed to enter the RoC (RoC citizens and few others) by any entry point will now have to go in to 15 days state quarantine. It also appears even to be allowed to do that, even as a citizen, you require a certificate to show that you were coronavirus negative in the previous 4 days - which seems to me is near impossible to obtain in any case.

Spoke to sister it was her friend who said borders clisjng till 30 april. I asked her if the borders are closed till end april. She said borders closed for 15 dsys you can cross from south to morth if you are a cypriot. All commercial businesses closed till 30 april but shops were open today but might close at 6pm tonight. But things change from day to day. She will let me know more if and when she hears more. Sorry about the borders closing till end april but that was it seemed she was saying last night.
