Turkish Airlines cancelled flights

We had flights booked with TA, Dublin to Ercan, originally on 31st March (flying back at the end of May).

First off the morning (10:55) flight from Dublin to Istanbul (TK1976) was cancelled on 31st (and other days) and we were put onto the afternoon flight. This would have meant an overnight stopover since we would have missed the last flight to Ercan. So we changed the flights to 1st April.

Yesterday we received notification that the Istanbul to Ercan leg (TK0962) on 1st April was “rescheduled” (which really meant cancelled) because of the shutdown in the TRNC.

This morning the Dublin to Istanbul flight was also “rescheduled” (cancelled) because Ireland has been added to the banned countries flying to Turkey.

Went to the TA office in Dublin airport and were offered (a) a full refund (b) to reschedule our flights to particular dates or (c) hold on to our tickets and reschedule when we wanted to fly (ie when things settle down again, inshallah). We’ve chosen the latter.

In the words of the lovely gentleman at the office (who stood by the door while we kept our respectful “social distance”) “We have your money and everyone knows why the flights are cancelled.”

He also added, “Please pray for us!” to which we added our own “Amen”!

Çok teşekkür ederim, TA.

We are in a similar position.
We are due to fly from Ercan to Manchester with TA. Flying out on the 31st March via Istanbul. Yesterday TA changed our flight from 08.25 on the 31st to 02.40 am on the 30th, this would mean effectively something like a 35 hour lay over in Istanbul!!!
Today we received a mail from TA saying we have a flight change from Manchester to Istanbul but did not say on the mail what the change was? We are supposed to ring TA to find out.
I thought TA had cancelled all flights to Turkey anyway? The bottom line is we are going to cancel anyway, even if we traveled I suspect we would have to self isolate once in the UK.

Mollie

The clue seems to be in the email. If it says:

NEW FLIGHT INFORMATION
Please call Turkish Airlines Call Center.

rather than giving you the details of the flight change then that seems to indicate that the flight is cancelled.

If this helps:

Turkish Airlines are still flying from Istanbul to Manchester and London on 19, 20, 21 and 22 March and have seats available.
Our friends went to Ercan yesterday and TA confirmed that their flight on 22nd will still go.

Paul,
If your friends are still going on the 22nd do you think they would mind taking a passport back with them to post please?

It seems that TA flights will be cancelled up to the 20th April and they are letting people change their flights with no charge except for internal Turkish flights and of course flights to and from Ercan, we are meant to be flying on the 22nd April but not holding my breath

We were due to fly to UK on 18th April. Rang Turkish airlines yesterday and cancelled. I was given a full refund without any problem.

I finally rang TA this morning, sure enough our flights were cancelled, but because we booked through a third party we have to claim a refund through them, no big deal, in the bigger picture we are getting off lightly i suppose.

Still, just cooked a huge chilly for this evening and have a full bottle of Gin, happy days.

Typical, someone was taking my passport back to the UK today for renewal, boarding passes printed, checked in, got to security, sent home, flight cancelled at the last minute. Back to square one for us.

Thank you Ayala66, she managed to get through & a refund is promised in 45 days, not sure why the delay as the flight was cancelled & date passed so not a future flight.
