Police Patrol and control in all regions have been increased in all regions according to a number of decisions made by the ministers against the ministry of ministers against the ministry of ministers. In the inspection held today, the crowd gathered for mass worship at the gönyeli, alaykoy and yılmazköy mosque was delivered by warning.

Google Translate did a better job.

Police patrols and controls have been increased in all regions in line with certain decisions taken by the Council of Ministers against the corona virus outbreak. In today's audits; The crowd gathered for collective worship in Gönyeli, Alayköy and Yılmazköy mosques were warned and distributed.
It was determined that approximately 100 people had a picnic in the Gonyeli Dam region and the cooperation of the Gonyeli municipality and the police helped them dissolve by warning. In addition, around 30 people fishing around the Kanlıköy Dam were warned to disperse.
We remind once again that in this sensitive period we are going through, our people should strictly comply with the decisions taken, that they should not take such initiatives by knowing the opportunity at the weekend and stay in their homes. We wish healthy days to all our people.

But if the news is true, ok the health department say 800 are in quarantine , the quick shut down is working

Another 12 German tourists and a Turkish Cypriot woman have tested positive for coronavirus in Turkish-held north Cyprus , bringing the total number of cases there to 33, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
It said that 13 new confirmed cases were announced on Thursday night, 12 German tourists and the Turkish Cypriot spouse of one of the two Turkish Cypriots who had tested positive returning from uk.
The German tourists are understood to belong to the same 39 strong group as the first patient, a 65 year old woman who tested positive.

Also nicked from Facebook from what I consider to be a very reliable source although not able to verify it.

"3 virus sufferers who were being treated in the North have now recovered following treatment. They have now tested negative twice and will be discharged from hospital"

There were about 6 families picnicking just outside Karmi a few days ago and there are Cypriots/Turks walking round the village every day. They are treating the shut down as a bayram.

Lets just hope the 150 students re patriated from the UK who were met by their parents before going into quarantine are not carrying the virus. or Maybe their parents/family are all in Riverside with them.

I have not seen much about the students and Riverside as I have been busy today. I ahve just seen this though posed by the BRS on Facebook where obviously the Government are not too impressed with false stories on Social Media. Have to say we would all be better if we stuck to facts or at least what is released officially rather than I heard someone say this or that.
Ministry of Health announcement about Coronavirus

The TRNC Minister of Health and his entire team are working together and all necessary precautions regarding Coronavirus have been taken and will continue to be taken. There is hearsay and comments which are creating chaos and panic for the public, especially on social media, which are not based on correct information. Such negative actions demoralise and create unnecessary information pollution. However, we would like to share with the public that we will be monitoring all statements that are not based on reality, which will negatively affect public health and morale, and that legal action will be taken.Regarding the process, the Ministry of Health continues to provide official information to the public regularly. It is kindly requested not to accept any other explanations. We once again state that our priority is the health of our people, and we invite everyone to take care and use common sense.Source (TRNC): Ministry of Health Posted: Mar 20, 2020

Michelle what area are you in ? I ask because personally as someone in a relatively low risk category I would be prepared to try and help out by getting shopping for others in higher risk categories and leaving it 'on the door step' if you are in a location that I would pass by in case when doing shopping for my own household.

I basically travel between my house which is near Ozzies (used to be JK's) / bowls club and Starling supermarket that is just 'before' the Lapta strip. If anyone in a high risk category on such a route would like help then please do feel to PM me.

Can you pick me up some Efes while you are out? :)

On a more serious note despite it risking my selfish nasty reputation if there is anyone in the Alsancak area that is having problems and needs shopping picked up please feel free to PM me.
Hopefully the police make some sensible allowances for this kind of thing

Re people not self isolating, this is totally unacceptable, these people are selfish and contributing to the deaths of people. Apart from hitting with big fines these people in my opinion should not be getting medical treatment if they catch the virus!

Believe me they have now started stopping people in cars who have to prove where they are going. Person was on way to hospital. Don't ask me who it was, but kosher.

Dog walkers, why are there a certain percentage of the community potentially sacrificing our health to walk dogs.
I understand they are precious to the owner, surely not as much as their lives?

Not sacrificing anyones health Bogaz58. Straight out of my house, no proper road and within a few minutes am on old goat tracks. Occasionally I MIGHT have met a fellow dog walker and we avoided each other "like the plague" Dogs on leads and getting some exercise. BTW we only have one neighbour, they have a Jack Russell and are obeying the Social Distance rule and their garden is just fine for one small dog. Have pity on those people who live in flats. If anyone can show me where it has been stated there is a 3,000 fine I would be grateful. We have same size garden and 5 dogs.

The fine is only 382TL = 10% minimum wage according to the Govt information on the news feed http://www.yeniduzen.com/

Plus a year in prison :)

"5- Law enforcement officers are empowered with this decree. Those who violate the decree will have commited a crime and may be sentenced to up to one year in prison or fines, or both."

I do sympathise with you having so many dogs, and with apartment dog owners. I've only got one small dog, and until I hear differently from official sources, dog is staying within the garden.

I have no idea of where the 3000 TL fine came from. I have seen 382TL fine, which was in the Kibris Gazette, and came from Deputy Prime Minister Ozersay. https://www.kibrisgazetesi.com/kibris/s ... 85682.html

There is also the possibility of 1 year imprisonment. 5- Law enforcement personnel have been authorized by this decree. Those who act in violation of this decree are considered to have committed a crime and will be subject to up to a year in prison or a fine or both.
This has been taken from https://pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr/en/circular-o ... al-curfew/

Sorry for spoon feeding where I got info from...was accused of speaking from my rear end and where did I get the info, even though I did provide a link on another thread, and thought it was rather obvious.

Thanks alphamike very much. I too have absolutely no idea where fine of 3000tl came from, it just seems to have appeared from somewhere.

Instead of not walking my menagerie I watch "tourists" wandering up and down wondering where the road/path goes to. Most of whom are definitely not walking apart. Last seen party of six. You can take a horse to water but you can't make him drink, comes to mind. Heigh ho.

I think you'll find that "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it think" is a more insightful analogy....

Indeed Sophie. It seems the curfew and new rules are just for us, and not for those failing to comply, until they get stopped and arrested by the police for failing to have a legitimate permit. Absolute idiots.

Today I had to go out to visit 2 villages, yesterday I applied for permission for my husband and I to travel and both of us received confirmation we were allowed to go out. The houses we visited were empty but the looks and immediate popping heads from gardens from neighbours I felt we should of had our permissions pasted to the van.
Since the 14th I can not recall having a conversation face to face with anyone apart from my husband, who incidentally has not gone out since the 22nd but this experience made me wonder how many of the people who were giving me dark looks had catch ups at the supermarkets, chemists, banks or even walking the dog!
Maybe I should of made it more clear, others are using the mentioned as social catch ups.

You can walk your dog in your neighbourhood on a lead provided you respect social distancing. I was told this by two government ministers.
