URGENT Warning about Pegasus Airline
I have just been trying to cancel my flights dated 16th May to Stansted and they have flatly refused to do so. The reason???
1. Because you booked through Ankara Travel not direct to Pegasus your issue is with Ankara Travel not the airline.
2. If your flight had been in March or April you could have cancelled with full refund but by May all the airlines
might be flying again (He's on another planet)
3. I could have cancelled but with HUGE penalty (which he would not disclose)
4. My tickets cost 840GBP. I know its more than usual but we were coming back on 27th which is within Bayram days.
I tried to explain that I was meeting family from Australia and Canada and without that the trip was pointless ( I know that's irrelevant really but I just wanted to tell him. He just kept repeating over and over again that my argument (I wasn't arguing, just trying to explain what I considered my rights) was with Ankara Travel and as I assume their office is closed for the foreseeable future I can't see me getting anywhere.
Be warned.

Did you try contacting Ankara Travel? They may reply to emails or texts even when not in the office. They are really helpful people there. I hope they will be able to advise you.

If Pegasus cancel flights they have to refund. Its too early yet to know what will be happening in May! They are taken it a couple of weeks at a time. To be fair we want these airlines to survive all this.

The no refund in May ( or there after) sounds reasonable but I would expect a refund if they are not flying in May. I would wait and see then let Ankara travel handle any claim for a refund!

Of course we want airlines to survive, but surely you can cancel a flight at anytime you like if you paid with a Credit Card and after all Pegasus will have had money transferred to them from Ankara by now. Yes I will email Ankara and hope for a reply. Silly me, I thought I was going the right way round i.e. the engine driver not the bloke in the guards van.

Re: URGENT Warning about Pegasus Airline
We cancelled flights with Pegasus which were booked by Ankara Travel. All we needed to do was go onto website and enter our Reservation/PNR number and it was straightforward. They gave a full breakdown of the refund.....which was exactly the amount paid. Our flight was for 31st March.
If your flight is for May onwards I would think that the airline would not be offering refunds at this time. Yes we all know that travel is still likely to be severely restricted however this is how airlines work. If travel restrictions are still in place over the dates you plan to travel then getting a refund should be straightforward.
We had flights booked with EasyJet and they would not offer a refund initially, only offering a free rebooking/change but paying any price difference if the cost of the flight was more for the date rebooked. Of course they were not offering any refund if the price was cheaper! However; as soon as the government announced that U.K. citizens should not travel overseas then we were able to get a full refund.
We have flights booked for later this year which we will leave until the situation becomes clearer as by cancelling now you will lose most if not all of what you have paid. If the restrictions on travel are still in place closer to your travel date then again getting a refund or rebooking free of charge is much easier.

I think the thread title is ill-judged and unnecessarily alarmist.

Re: URGENT Warning about Pegasus Airline
I'm guessing that the ticket you purchased was an advance purchase, no refund ticket. That would explain why they will not entertain your request. At the moment the airlines are trying to deal with imminent flights, hoping people will take a voucher or rebook for a later date rather than ask for a refund. Can't blame them they are trying to survive. It's a waiting game, airlines won't announce cancellations until the last possible moment and cancellation by them is your only hope of getting a full refund. Use of a credit card card only gives you protection if the airline, in this case, cannot provide you with the service you paid for, i. e. They go out of business, which is a big possibility for a lot of them. If you merely change your mind about travelling then the best you can hope for is the taxes back on your tickets. So my advice would be to wait until the very last minute until cancelling, you can do it right up to departure time. Here's some useful information :

I'm not sure, but I can remember the guy in the Agency saying, you can cancel at any time. This of course was before the troubles.

Absolutely, am going to write an email today and hope for the best. He might of course deny, deny, deny. Just realised I referred to "the troubles", sounds as if I'm in Ireland doesn't it?
