When pressing submit or preview on a post that you have spent a lot of effort on why not copy the text so that you can recover the post...
Sometimes pressing the back arrow several times will take you back to your workings too.

Foresight is a wonderful thing!
However, I have been using this forum for many years and I cannot remember being automatically logged out before. Could it be a bug after the re-vamp?

To best of my knowledge the forum has always had such a time out when posting. Could it be you have never taken so long to write your post before ?

You could always use the
Save Draft button, then continue typing and saving every now and again.

That's not an option in 'quick reply'...

Thanks for the replies but I don't understand what the reason is that the site logs one out automatically? And what is the actual the length of time before it 'chucks' one off?

At a guess its a security thing. When you go to post a reply a 'session' is opened with your credentials. The longer it is open the greater chance someone 'inbetween' you and the forum could intercept this session and post something pretending to be you when they are not you.
