John, we have one in Esentepe... they are not proper po boxes that I would trust with valuable post items. They are outside by the mosque and can easily be broken into.... and they have been.

We are on our third lock.... you do rent them from the local Post Office!

Normally PO Boxes are broken into in January through to March, this is because the fee is payable in January and if not paid the PO box is let to another user. The original user either is unaware of this or forgets or simply is too lazy to go to the PO to find out if there is any mail and try's there key in the PO Box, however the lock gets changed when the new owner takes it over. So the original owner - because they think it is still their box or could care less - breaks in to get their mail!

Very rare are PO Box's here broken into just for theft!!!

Apparently Esentepe is different!!!! Suggest you get a PO Box in another village is all I can advise.

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

That is not the case in Esentepe...

The keys for the outdoor boxes in Lapta are generic, so please be aware. Not that you even need a key they are so flimsy. Gave ours up 3 years ago due to missing post

Interesting! How would you know if post is missing “From the PO Box” if it was not in there? Did you put it in yourself or was it never there to start with? I ask because last year Amazon confirmed that an item I had ordered had been received at the address that I requested, it was not in my PO Box and the Postman said he had never received it. Two months later I received a letter from Istanbul telling me the item I had ordered was still waiting customs clearance by me and if no reply was received within 14 days it would be returned to sender! The letter was 43 days old when I got it. I contacted Amazon who confirmed they had received it and had credited my account for its return already, I checked, they had and I had missed it!

We were warned by the local postmaster that young scallywags help themselves to the contents...as our locks have mangled by someone other than us, he has a point.

Hi Waddo, I didn't say it was missing from the box, it was just missing. Tracked to being stuck in Istanbul during their coup. I could get no help from the people in the Post office. Gave up the box, or having any post sent here, after this
