Tax Disk and new Driving Licence

I know that amongst a whole morass of messages on this forum and messages from BRS, I should be able to answer my own question, but if someone can short circuit, I would be grateful. As of today my car tax disc is out of date and Driving Licences are ready for collection. Are the offices open at all and if so do you think I need to apply for Permit to Travel to drive from Alsancak to Girne. Thanks.

I don't know the answer to if they are open Sophie but you can tax on line here. It must be easy because I managed it.

How do you know your new licences are ready for collection?

Because they told me half a life time ago, to go back in three weeks. I did so and was told to go back in another three weeks. Then all the shutters came down, so I'm working on the theory that after 8 weeks or more they must surely be ready by now. In the meantime we are OK with the printed receipt thingy.

Struggling with the online car tax, cant get past first page ..
Tried putting P in front of passport number, any tips welcome.

Me too......tried putting GBR in front also but no joy,message translates as go to office,anyone know office opening times please?

Re inputting Passport number yes its P before.
But it's the passport number used when car was registered in your name. So you've had a new passport since that time system will reject application

Maybe like other pay offices they will open on a Wednesday.
I know in the past they give you 15 days to tax it and the month before a fine for not paying on time

Can anyone clarify if the passport number is the one used when car was first brought into country or purchased and registered or if it is current passport no?
We received a text from tax office last year to register vehicle for online taxing which was accepted.
Our vehicle is many years old and we have renewed our passports since first registration

Have just done mine online,use P before numbers on passport plus as previous poster said l had to use my old passport as this was valid when car was registered to me 5 years ago.Once details accepted page changes to online credit card payment which when complete allows you to download and print......easy when you know how,lol.Thanks for info everyone.

Well, its not as easy as I thought, particular the business of passports. BTW, which of our two Passports do we use, his or mine? If I eventually manage it I would love to print out however have totally run out of cartridge ink on our Canon printer. I suppose I could take a photo on my phone?
