Lockdown/Curfew Totally Useless

Living in a small 'bloc filled' street, central Girne, I have observed (from my balcony) there has been no end of visitors to neighbouring apartment flats by family, lovers, kids, friends who are non resident over the past 3 weeks for lunch, bbq's or whatever, with no regard to the restrictions that I have been made aware of. Midnight last night I spotted a car driving along the road turning his/her lights on & off to get to wherever, but tonight did my head in; car collecting a whole family (loads of kids) at 9.15pm, beeping horn for collection to drive, no doubt, home. Curfew starts at 9pm?!!!
I'm lost in the lack of comprehension of the seriousness by (some) of the locals. Look at NZ, lowest per capita Country for infections and deaths in the world: why? We are sheep and follow barking instructions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE IDIOTS!

Was reading in Cyprus Mail that there has been no new cases reported in the north for 9 days now. This must suggest that they are doing something correct?

You will never get everybody to comply, just look at UK. Unfortunately, some people are either selfish or are unwilling to follow the rules. I guess that is just the way of the world these days.

When one of their family/neighbours gets infected (God forbid) it won't be their fault would it.
The lack of new cases, in my opinion, is a double edged sword.
Complacency is a hard task master.
Stay safe.

Its not the curfew that is useless its the idiots who dont obey the law. Published figures show many arrests for breaking day and night time curfews.

Can’t be that useless, there’s only 12 active cases here. You will always get idiots ignoring rules anywhere! So long as the vast majority abide by them you will not go far wrong.

We walk a very short distance to our local supermarket. The coast road past China Bazaar has never been busier, loaded trucks, vans full of workers, takes a while to cross the road now as apposed to when the initial lock down was introduced.

I live up towards the mountains and we have many visitors. 11pm the other night, great big 4*4 with a star on the side (irony on a Japanese vehicle) v12 loads of noise lots of people in it. Messaged the Municipality, they told me to phone the police. Got through to the switchboard and pressed 9 for English (and disconnection). 8 came past the other day bags of food, charcoal and bbq utensils, returned a couple of hours later with nothing so rubbish was left there. Finally stopped 2 mopeds with youngsters on them (17ish) pointed out that they were only supposed to be out to shops and there was no shops here and they were not local, I asked where they were from they said Cyprus and I was the one who was not local. Entitled, privileged, disrespectful and racist. I am not looking forward to this generation growing up.

Maybe people are reacting to the fact that there have been no new cases in the last week or so. Government has to be by consent and it seems that some are making their own decisions based on the idea that it's all over. I'm not saying they are right but we see the same thing in Karsiyaka daily, although we are still socially distancing. As for your last comment, I think you asked for that a bit.

Sometimes being nice and pleasant st doesn’t work. See who on duty at Lapta Nic and. Go down there, these toe rags of kids on bikes I’ve got hold of before. All talk no substance
Little bits.
