Car tax renewal

Obtainened permission to leave the house and go to the car tax place in Girne. Normally I would expect parking to be a nightmare and expect to wait in queues. In and out within 10 minutes with plenty of parking, no problems!

I went to get my driving licence this morning from Girne Tax Offices. (submitted the renewal forms back in February!)
No problem parking at all, plenty of spaces...went inside and handed receipt to lady controlling access to counters and was told to sit and wait.....two minutes later driving licence was ready and off I went. However there were about 10 people queuing for what I presume were other tax requirements. Unsure whether they would get served before the place closed.

Went this morning to get road tax........didn’t need permissions to go from karsiyaka, what a result........in and out in about fifteen mins........a member of staff only allowing one person at a time through, after the temp.check, and hand wash.....all very organised.........you receive a different road tax receipt now, not the old type road tax thingy......my old tax run out end of March......but with all this malarkey going on.....no problem......

We need to do our road tax as well, thought we would need permission? So is that true that we don't.? Also when is the car tax open is it every morning now?

Tilley, I think getting permission is just that safeguard against getting stopped by th the police. I haven't been out in weeks and was ama8by how empty the roads were!

OI.OI.123............no permission required.......if going to Girne from k.yaka.........I took a chance last Friday, as I was in town....and no road tax staff working, but plenty of other staff in the office.......however, I remember somebody mentioning, that they only do a Wednesday for road tax.........no fines being issued if your late.......but would not fancy the rush, once they get back to normal working hours........stay safe treacle...

Paid our Car Road Tax on-line from the UK today using a UK credit card.

I was told by Lapta police thus week that if you are traveling to anywhere other than your local shop you still need permission,regardless of the road block in Alsancak being removed.I have to get permission still to go to the hospital in town.If you don't get caught then I guess you dont need permission.

OI.OI...123......Remember......once a treacle........always a treacle.......good luck with the road tax renewal.........for your info.....spoke to our local neighbour, a policeman, who advised that a trip to town, for our hospital appointment last Friday, did not require permission, as long as we had our appointment details with us.......as the police road block at top of the bypass had been lifted...........apparently going. To town, from k.yaka.......does not require a permit, if going to hospital, or government office.......tin hat the ready..........stay safe

I was refused permission to come home after 9pm from my hospital appointment.My doctor asked to see me and he said i needed to go in that evening but he didn't start until 8.30pm.A Lapta police station officer said no and then another one said yes.Depends on who you ask and which way the wind is blowing.

Tried to do mine on line this morning but couldn't for some reason. Sent an email to ask why and had a reply a few minutes ago to tell me to do it in my wife's name. Tried that and it worked. Excellent service with the prompt reply by email though.

Ok so tried the link and can't get onto it. Does anyone know when the car tax counter will be open? Is it Wednesday or will they be back to normal. But if a jaunt from Karsiyaka if they are closed.

Try emailing, the address is on the login page, they reply quickly with the information you need to log in.
