Stray Cat........... Flea Infestation ???
Hello All,
A stray cat we feed is constantly scratching, he has red raw skin because of this. He doesn't come too near to us, so we wouldn't be able to put any treatment on him. We presume it's a flea infestation ?!?
Please would anyone know if there is a liquid or powder we could add to his food which would kill fleas / tics etc.
It would be lovely to help him as he looks in such distress ♡ Thank you very much for your replies.

Garlic powder - but you need to start off with a minute amount until the cat gets used to it!

Re: Stray Cat........... Flea Infestation ???
Garlic belongs to the Allium family (which also includes onion, chives, and leeks) and is poisonous to dogs and cats. Garlic is considered to be about 5-times as potent as onion and leeks. ... While tiny amounts of these foods in some pets, especially dogs, may be safe, large amounts can be very toxic. Cats should not eat onions, garlic, shallots, chives, or other foods that contain thiosulphate, a compound that can cause serious problems. When enough is eaten, the thiosulphate causes destruction of their red blood cells, a devastating condition called hemolytic anemia.
I always assumed that is why they don't like my curry

I guess the only humane way would be to use a humane cat trap and safely treat the cat once inside?

Yeah, years ago in UK, I got the advice about garlic from a vet!
Not a very good vet, from the sound of it

Well, it would solve the problem in that it would kill the cat, KC.

We have the same problem!
Here it says to crush a Capstar tablet in their food?

Don’t know if you’d get them here, but available in the UK. Perhaps there’s an alternative brand here with the same base ingredients. Although a word of caution, the vets here often say you can give drugs for dogs to cats, that is not always the case which is why there are two types produced. However if the manufacturer says it’s ok, it should be.
