All food businesses wanting to operate as a takeaway have to apply by 5th May for all workers involved to register for a virus check the results to be given before opening on 11th .
Simple, what could possibly go wrong?
Not forgetting that they have to have been tested and cleared two days before they open? Plenty of “Cyprus” time to get it all done by the 11th, depending on who you know of course!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
Somebody forgot 'siesta time' and the year has yet to be confirmed, maybe 2021 or extended due to apathy and any likelihood of motivation caused by Cyprus idleness and pure laziness!!!
We went out with the dogs this morning, must have seen at least twenty people. None of them wearing masks except us. The rules are obviously going to be flouted regarding shops, the police and the government will throw their hands up and hope that the virus does not re-emerge. Problem is that if it does, it might mutate into a more deadly form.
Being as polite as I can be, where on earth did you dig that up from?
It is widely accepted by virologists that the corona virus strains have an uncanny habit of mutating... some mutations will be weaker some stronger and those ones fill the Darwinian definition of survival of the fittest.... Let's hope to God a vaccine comes before a deadlier strain..

I think that it's the strains that don't actually kill the host which tend to survive - the ones that do kill the host die out with their host...
Spoken to two locals today and they said "its gone, everything back to normal after 15th. The people in UK will be fed up with life in UK and want a cheap holiday. Hotels will offer really cheap b and b with a flight built in during July and August" Do you think that's what the info they are being fed or maybe on local Facebook and Forums.. They genuinely seemed to believe it.

But were they social distancing? which to me is a bigger worry, I have chosen to work alone or drag my husband along instead of being responsible for wearing a mask , disinfecting the van and wearing gloves while in the company of people I do not live with. I will as the law states wear a mask in public areas where there are people and even shops where there are not that many and gloves for my own protection.

Comforting thought - not!
The trouble is all strains can be passed on to new hosts before the first symptoms are evident... so the fact that the originator's infection will die with them means nothing other than once disposed of safely they will no longer pose a Covid-19 threat - but may have infected others before that.
At the risk of being off topic and all to the best of my limited understanding as a lay person.
Most things about the characteristics of this particular virus and the response to it of the bodies immune system remain unknown to any degree of certainty or consensus. Most of them will remain unknowable for years or decades even.
Some virus infections cause an immune response in the body on first infection that means any subsequent reinfection is irrelevant forever on wards. The bodies antibodies remember the first infection and quickly stop reinfection entirely or quick enough that not symptoms occur. We do not know if the immune system response to covid-19 will be like this or not.
Some viruses , in the corona virus family, like flu, constantly and frequently mutate. This is why when you first get flu you are not protected for life on from that point and why flu vaccines change every year and why flu can cause high seasonal deaths periodically, every 5 to 10 years or so. We do not know if covid - 19 is like this and if it is at all to what degree.
Some viruses, in the corona virus family, like the common cold do not mutate at all over every long periods of time and essentially remain unchanged year to year and decade to decade. On infection the body produces antibodies but it seems to 'forget' these specific antibodies very quickly for some reason we do not yet understand. This is why even though the virus does not change, people do get repeatedly reinfected and there is no vaccine for the common colds. We do not yet know if the bodies immune system will behave in this way to covid-19 or not.
