Poisoned meat!!

Please be careful, five of us were enjoying a long walk through the pine forest in Karsiyaka today when Missy the dog came running up with a piece of poisoned meat, luckily it had bone with the meat and we managed to get it out of her mouth, the reaction was immediate ... her legs went first. We tipped water down her throat and phoned some lovely friends who immediately drove to meet us with some charcoal tablets and rushed her off to the vet. After two sessions with a drip and treatment it looks as if Missy will survive. Fortunately we were only about 10 minutes away from the mountain road, the outcome would have been very different had we been further back on our walk.
The dog had been on her lead until we were well up into the forest, it really was an upsetting experience ... When will this stop

Terrible to hear that but so pleased that Missy is on her way to recovery.
We are so fortunate living where we do ( Balalan ). In all the 11 years here not once have we seen or heard of a dog being poisoned. We have long walks daily in the surrounding hills and never have to worry about our dog . The only problem we have is the amount of dogs abandoned during the hunting season.

Thank you Nonna for warning us. Can only think that somebody has done this to get rid of all the abandoned hunting dogs that roam the hills after every season. Why otherwise? So much for the hunters, who are so responsible and nature loving, so they say.

So glad that Missy is OK. We live in Karsiyaka, and are too frightened to walk our dogs anywhere, which is a great pity both for them and us. Nowhere seems safe, even well away from the villages.
