I know the on-line applications system comes in today, but do you have to use it or can you still go to the police station and then wait for your appointment to go to the immigration office. I'm led to believe that the immigration desks at the police stations are only open for inquiries. I'm a bit confused at the moment!

A friend of mine completed the on line application a while ago, before the lock down. He telephoned the immigration office a few days ago they told him he would have to start all over again on line.

I got lucky, I applied through the Police Station in January, called the immigration office got an appointment for last Tuesday, went down all sorted thankfully. It was however backdated to January!

BRS members have had a circular explaining in full the new system.

BRS stress:
With immediate effect, all applications for Residency Visas can only be made
through the link above (the online system). There is no alternative system for Residency Visa
applications being made available.

We are both overt 60 and rent our villa - what category of visa do I apply for, I understand my wife applies unde the Family Visa - TIA

On the subject of the state health insurance, do you still have to go and buy it from the Koop bank as it states in the guide to applying that the fee will include the cost of the insurance? if you are not required to go to immigration now to complete your residency, do you still need to go to the Health Ministry to get a health certificate stamped, or is it all taken care of in the on-line application? Confused!

Hello, Can anyone tell me what the under 60s do now with regards to to doing the medical side of residency, before going to immigration office please. Last year when i renewed at police station a usual they took my little blue book off me said you wont need that any more .????

In January I paid for the bloodtest at Koop Bank Karakum. Took the receipt to Girne Hospital who sent me to a clinic to have it done. The following week I went back to the hospital to pick up the results and a week after that I took the results to Lefkosa Immigration.

Is that what you meant or was it something else?

This is copied from the expats consultancy newsletter. Have only got as far as the police appointment myself so no idea if this is actually how it will work, it does imply state insurance and residency cost will be paid online:
After the police station the system will advise you of the blood test payment required if under 60. You will be told where to go for the relevant blood tests and ex rays
If no blood test is required or after you have done your blood test, you will be asked the length of residence permit required
Make payment for the length of residence permit required and if wanting state medical insurance,the payment for that
If you have purchased private health insurance,upload a copy of the policy document.
When the application is complete and approved; print copy of residence permit for your records

I have done all that earlier in the year just wondering how it will work with the new online thing coming up, was even asked when i went to immigration if i wanted 2 years which i didn't know i could get at 56. Do we still go police station to get slip of paper for hospital then fill other bits in online and wait for appointment

lee666, If I find out I will let you know. We are in the same position but all the information being sent around never mentions the "Renters", not even the BRS have mentioned them so we are in a bit of a dark area at the moment. Your wife/partner will be a "Family Member" for sure but of course she can't apply for that till you have applied for yours. I have been unable to find anything on the various Govt websites which covers the "Renters" and which category we apply under but I suspect it will be the "Owners" application as there is no other one - lol. Time yet so no panic.

When I applied as a renter, paper-based, it was under the high income category. Is this available on the new online system?

Yes, there is a high income category option on the online system.
