I wonder who the passengers were
According to T.Vine.com 13 passengers arrived at Ercan from Turkey in private plane on Saturday, returning yesterday. Ministry of Health and Ministry of Transport say they have no knowledge of why they came or their names and that only Council of Minsters can give permission. When asked at Ercan as to whether they were going to be quarantined passengers replied that they had permission not to. Oooer!!!!

And its that easy. New Zealand declared Covid free last week, two British ladies were given special permission to attend a funeral there, they both have covid, just goes to show. Which plane were they on, which taxi or other transport did they use, which hotel did they stay in?

Someone told me this morning (True or Not) that it was a private charter and they were gamblers from Turkey and stayed at the Merit.

If you read LGC News, I think they must have been Secretaries, with good shorthand and typing speeds.

You will find 'AN' answer

There was no reason and no authority to allow them to contravene the regulations put in place by the Council of Ministers.
I think that the political row over this is far from over!

Re: I wonder who the passengers were
I would have thought the Lapta Marina Project would be way down the priorities list. My thoughts are that they were from DCI, the Turkish
Water company coming over to explain that the Project of the Century pipe repair would be fixed a few months after the Gecikoy reservour
runs dry. Maybe they were surveying the sea water depth at Karsijaka to find out how much they needed to dredge a channel for the water tankers
to dock.

I worry that the desire to widen the road through Alsancak and Lapta may be the final straw for some of the businesses along the road.howardjennings wrote: ↑Thu 18 Jun 2020 9:40 amI would have thought the Lapta Marina Project would be way down the priorities list.
I can't see how the inevitable roadworks wont effect access to the shops and a few weeks roadworks reducing your customer base might be a killer blow.
Whether or not the project as a whole is a good idea is debatable but even if it does prove a long term positive I think it would be sensible to bookmark it for a year to give local businesses the best chance to make up some lost money

The turkish company whose representatives came to consolidate the build of the Lapta marina project have withdrawn from the project as a whole.

Re: I wonder who the passengers were
According to LGC News:
Chairman of Anex Tour Group Neşet Koçkar, has said that the company has withdrawn its offer to construct a marina and hotel in Lapta.
He said that following the debacle after his visit to North Cyprus to inspect the site and meet officials, he said that there had been a lynching campaign launched against the tourism minister Ünal Üstel and other officiials who had only been trying to help revive the economy.
So far, there have been two groups who visited North Cyprus and left without observing quarantine rules, much to the outrage of the public.
n his statement, Koçkar said, “We apologize to the people of TRNC because of these incidents happening unintentionally and without our hand”.
The whole subject had deeply upset the entire company community, he said.

I see the Minister of Tourism was replaced yesterday.
So he took the bullet, whether it was gambling or the marina.

You would think that rather than build another hotel they would take stock and see if they can get the capacity up for their existing hotels post virus.
I think supply already well outstripped demand pre-lockdown but to increase supply now is insanity
