Travertine outside patio
Does anyone have an answer to the annual problem of 'leaking' travertine ? Everyone knows that the patios are laid on a concrete base but then for some weird reason the travertine or tiles are laid on a bed of sand and a cement layer. This inevitably leads to water leaks in whatever area is below it, or cracks the facia where the water leaks to the edge. Does anyone know of a product that fills the joins of the travertine and stops the water getting in ?

Hi, we have 3 balconies which have travetine fitted and lucky to never have any water penetration.
We had it polished last year and had a webber solution brushed onto the surface which repels water, sorry but do not know where the guy purchased it,may be coban or marshalls in a yellow tub.

We have bought the clear water repellent for our travertine this year after lockdown. We got it from Coban. Can’t remember the name but they will know what you are talking about if you ask them.

'when you say "travertine" do you mean the tiles that most of us have on our terraces (I have 4 huge ones) or is this something different?

Up the Reds,
I got my sealant from the DIY next to Pools'R'us in Lapta if that helps. I do my roof terrace annually as I was told the travertine is porous.

Yes Sophie 'travertine' looks like marble and is porous so really needs sealing. Because here it is laid on a layer of sand water permiates down the edges of the tiles (Usually 60 x 30 cms) and in my case causes small leaks in the worst of the winter.
