Try contacting Trevor Hughes at Capital Bank trevorhughes329@gmail.com, I think he can help. Sorry I haven't got his telephone number to hand.

Dağlı insurance in Karaoğlanoğlu 0392 8224005 are very helpful too and you will probably need them for the DHL courier part of the process if you are having it sent from the UK. I did the online renewal last year so can hopefully help you if there are particular bits of the online form you are struggling with

Just for info. There is a Passport backlog as well as other things. News this morning has confirmed again, but this article was a June.

Re: UK passport renewal
If you do it online from here be sure to say you are abroad even if you have a uk address. Go in to Gagli Sagota and they will send the old passport back with an addressed envelope for the new one. I made the mistake of saying I was in the uk at my home address expecting our son to DHL the new one to me but they would not deliver the new one to him because of no ID, they destroyed it, had to start process again. See Dagli they know what to do.

If you want to contact them Reyntj to find out what is going on you can call HM Passport Office on 0044 300 330 0901 They will even give you a callback if you're waiting too long. I applied for mine on 8th June and chased it on 8th July. I was sent a waybill number by email the next day. I note on the DHL website that it has now left Istanbul but there is a hold up somewhere. Yours is well overdue!

Re: UK passport renewal
Mine is due for renewal soon-I insure with Dagli so I will use their DHL service.
However I have a couple of questions.
Firstly,my existing UK passport runs out in April 2021,however my residency stamp lasts until October 2021-I assume my old passport is returned and I assume I will need to carry both my new and old passport with me when travelling,Is this correct?
Secondly,I checked out the online application system which seems straightforward, however it asks for your country of residence, and offers both Turkey and Cyprus as alternatives, but not North Cyprus-Which should I use, Turkey or Cyprus.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: UK passport renewal
I used Cyprus as per the free BRS instructions on their website. You don't have to be a member to view this. I think it might be under the Living in Cyprus section from memory.
However, while chasing the application up with the H M Passport office I was advised that they treat Northern Cyprus as Turkey because DHL deliver through that route. Mine went from Heathrow to Leipzig onto Istanbul and then into Ercan.
So as long as it is clear from your application that you need it delivered to the North they, DHL, will amend accordingly.
I did mine directly and didn't use Daglı or Capital Bank but I'm sure they will advise you.
Good luck!

Your old passport will be returned separately but its worth paying extra to have it returned securely, it will be via DHL, at least it was last year when my husband renewed.Philoz wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jul 2020 9:09 amMine is due for renewal soon-I insure with Dagli so I will use their DHL service.

You need to carry both passports when going in and out of TRNC until you renew your residency in October 2021.
At the moment the passport office are asking people not to use the system unless it is an emergency as they have been inundated and are trying to process urgent applications first. Also you no longer get any time from your old passport added to the new one, it will be valid for 10 years from date of issue. Given these circumstances it might be best to wait until early next year to reapply unless you need 6 months on your existing passport to travel before then. I think my husband's new and expired passports arrived within 10 days of being despatched by the passport office, that time included a Bayram.

Its getting to the situation of not really wanting to go anywhere, now or at any time in the future. If people want to see us, then they are more than welcome. The hassle at this end and the UK is just getting more than I want to be bothered with if I'm absolutely honest.

Re: UK passport renewal
One day passport offices still not open in England but the pubs have been open almost a month now. Only in England. As someone who works out of the country, the delays have really affected my friends and family. Friends not being able to return home with newly borns, family not being able to travel to see dying relatives.
If you are able to hold tight and not travel, then you are lucky. Not everybody is in that situation though.

I wasn't trying to be difficult Trigger and I do realise that few cases are identical. I missed a large family reunion in UK with people flying in from NZ plus a funeral in Oz but I still say, at my age, the hoops of fire, excess amounts of money, everything being carried out on line (and in many cases, just not working) , is quite frankly getting just too much to cope with. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Passport offices are struggling due to the staff shortage caused by COVID-19, nothing to do with pubs opening. Other Government offices are also struggling as are other businesses. It’s also not “Only in England”. Also people Worldwide have been affected. Cut a bit of slack and see it as it is. Everyone is affected in some shape or other.Trigger wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jul 2020 9:12 amOne day passport offices still not open in England but the pubs have been open almost a month now. Only in England. Re: UK passport renewal
Yeah, I know. I am just agreeing with you that it is probably the wise decision to sit pretty if that is an option.
We decided to totally miss out TRNC this year because of the situation. However, stopping at home (Qatar) was not an option due to family illness in England. We now have to travel back to Qatar on 13th August for work. Wife’s passport runs out in April. We were wanting to renew it whilst in UK, but cannot as the same day service is closed. Cannot just apply now as we wouldn’t have the passport back in time to get back to work.
The only other option is to apply via DHL when we get back to Qatar. Goodness knows how long this will take. So in the meantime we are once again stuck in Qatar and god forbid anything happens with our family who is terminally ill. It’s a very frustrating situation, especially when in England people are once again visiting pubs, restaurants etc.

Well then let’s start getting people back to work. PPE, social distancing, hot desking... if people can work like this in shops, pubs, restaurants etc, then I don’t see why they cannot in a passport office.Dalartokat wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jul 2020 12:14 pmPassport offices are struggling due to the staff shortage caused by COVID-19, nothing to do with pubs opening. The government has had enough slack already imo. Boris has gotten off lightly for the terrible job he has done so far. It is time to start getting back to some sort of normality now. We cannot go on like this for any longer.

Re: UK passport renewal
Just thought I'd share my experience. Passport expired 6th June. Applied online 8th June. Immediate confirmation of receipt and regular updates. Chased by phone on 8th July. Passport had been issued on 24th June but just the day before, it had been returned to the passport office by the local courier due to shipping issues via Turkey which had since been rectified. Passport resent out urgently and then continuous email contact from the passport office saying they were monitoring closely. AWB No provided so I could also monitor and track. Passport delivered by local courier (DHL) by midday today. From application to issue was 16 days so very good in the circumstances I think.

Boris and the government are getting criticised by others for not locking down sooner and opening up too soon. Personally I always thought the government was bounced into the lockdown too soon by the scaremongering but it’s easy to Monday morning quarterback these things.

Everyone is frustrated, but that’s the way it is, there was a backlog from April, May, June. You cannot blame anyone, No one has had experience of this. All countries have made their mistakes. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Nothing will be the same, forget what happened before March 23rd 2020, motto now is plan plan plan and book book and patience.Trigger wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jul 2020 12:20 pmDalartokat wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jul 2020 12:14 pmPassport offices are struggling due to the staff shortage caused by COVID-19, nothing to do with pubs opening. That’s because one is private sector and can only survive by giving its customers what they want. The other is public sector and runs mainly for the benefit of its staff as it has access to the money tree.

I was under the impression that it was down to pressure from the French government threatening to close down borders to us despite being advised by scientists to lock down.EnjoyingTheSun wrote: ↑Thu 23 Jul 2020 3:56 pmBoris and the government are getting criticised by others for not locking down sooner and opening up too soon. That is a more recent theory which could Certainly have some truth in it. I believe that the UK Government was going down the herd immunity route and suddenly changed direction.

Has an aside to this ,saw a post on Facebook Trevor's tips saying if using the new passport for residency applications you need to register it at Metehan free of charge first.
Never heard this mentioned else where, has anyone done residency application on a new passport that hasn't been used before?

Re: UK passport renewal
My renewal last year was with a new passport. My old passport had the previous years stamp in but was out of date. It was a little bit fiddly but I was extremely lucky that a sweet girl with glasses at the immigration department was a life saver.kerry 6138 wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jul 2020 8:23 amHas an aside to this ,saw a post on Facebook Trevor's tips saying if using the new passport for residency applications you need to register it at Metehan free of charge first.

Obviously keep the old passport and, although I didn't, I was asked for the envelope that the new passport came in. I obviously had chucked it and was ok in the end but it might help if you keep everything for the first renewal?
