Aircon Running Cost
Does anyone know the approximate electrical running cost of a modern FUJI Aircon unit during peak time in TRNC ?
It's an 1100kw split unit set at 25C.

Around 1.7 TL per hour.
If the room is small enough, and well-insulated enough, then the aircon thermostat may kick in to reduce consumption, but as these factors are 'unknowns' I cannot estimate what effect they might have.

1100kw, wow that some size its around 3.7 million btu's.

Out of interest how do you calculate the running cost? For example 24,000 btu inverter.

Re: Aircon Running Cost
To get an accurate estimate of the running cost is an extremely complex task, so for a quick 'rough and ready' figure, take the electrical power rating of the A/C unit (not the BTU rating) and multiply the number of Kilowats by the cost of electricity on the tariff to be used.
Remember to add on any charges that normally appear on your bill such as KDV etc...
As I mentioned in the example below, I have assumed that the unit will run at full power continuously, wheres in real life, the thermostatic control will most likely turn the unit off or reduce power at some point, but as we do not know the actual values of all of the various factors which will contribute towards this, I gave simply given a 'worst case' scenario.

Perhaps I haven't picked this one up correctly, but O.P refers to a "modern" Fuji A/C but doesn't say whether its a modern basic aircon or an inverter. Wouldn't that make a difference?

The way I calculated the cost of my new 18000BTU Fuji inverter was to run it at 25C on dry mode for one hour with nothing else on - taking the meter readings at the beginning and end and then using Kibteks tarif to get the cost, which came out at less than 1TL per hour.

paul90 - It's 'how long is a piece of string', isn't it?paul90 wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jul 2020 1:24 pmThe way I calculated the cost of my new 18000BTU Fuji inverter was to run it at 25C on dry mode for one hour with nothing else on - taking the meter readings at the beginning and end and then using Kibteks tarif to get the cost, which came out at less than 1TL per hour.
How big the room is in relation to the A/C capacity/wattage, what the ambient temperature is, what temperature you set it to, do you have it set to 'dry' or 'cool', how effective the room insulation is, how many people/pets are in the room (all generating heat and humidity

sophie - It would make a difference, provided that the unit was able to eventually achieve the desired temperature, but that's well outside of the scope of this post!

Re: Aircon Running Cost
Yes.....As the OP I realised that there were many variables which is why I was only looking for an approximation to confirm my estimate of around 20p per hour peak time and 10p off peak.
Worth every penny at the moment I'd say

Oh well, I was near enough for your purposes then!

Re: Aircon Running Cost
cost of unit of electricity x 1.1=running cost per hour for 1100w that is the cost while the unit is running the efficiency is another matter
