Easyjet from Larnaca- has anyone managed a refund

I have an Easyjet flight booked (booked end 2019 before pandemic) for Wednesday Sept 9th, returning Wednesday 16th Sept. For obvious reasons I am unable to make the flight due to border restrictions.

It would be great if i could get even a partial refund. Getting hold of Easyjet Customer Services is proving difficult! Changing the flight to another date isn't really a sensible option.

Has anyone managed to get a refund from Easyjet under similar circumstances?

Have you been informed by EasyJet that the flight has been cancelled, if not then wait until they inform you that it is. Whatever you do, do not cancel the flight yourself, once EasyJet let you know that it's cancelled then you will be eligible for a full refund.

If easyjet cancel the flight you will get a refund. If you cancel the flight you won't.

They are contracted to get you from one airport to the other. Any further travel is not their concern.

They cancelled an August Larnaca flight of mine and I requested a refund which arrived recently.

Easyjet have not cancelled the flight and flights from the same airport in previous weeks have been operating.

Looks like a 'no win' situation at the moment.

If you paid by credit card and over £100, you can claim from the credit card company as long as it's not a recent booking.

You can claim from a credit card if the goods or services you paid for have not been provided. If the flight goes ahead there is no basis to claim.

With a little effort you could still fly to LCA and cross to the north at Pyla.

If things haven't eased by the time of your scheduled return you could fly back to the UK from ECN.

Would coming in via south and leaving via Ercan not compromise future visits to south, as they wouldn't have a record of you leaving?

I claimed successfully as I could not reasonably get to the airport due to coronvirus restrictions.

Coronavirus was different. No planes could fly.

EasyJet policy is if they cancel you will be refunded. If you decide you do not want to fly and the flight goes ahead as normal, it’s not anything to do with them.

There is the point that the South side do claim that the border crossing restrictions are because of Covid-19 (even though we don't believe them!) so he might have a chance if he plays the Covid-19 card ;)

Agree that you have to sit tight and wait for the airline to cancel your flight and then request a refund.

If you cancel then no refund.

The problem could be that whilst your EasyJet flight may operate and hence you will not get a refund. However; you may struggle to cross the border and also there are the quarantine arrangements to consider. This of course may not make it worthwhile travelling.

We had Easyjet flights booked out this month and returning end Oct. We decided that flying into the south was getting complicated, crossing the border unclear so decided to change these flights and are using them for a return trip within the U.K.....so at least we did not lose everything. We are now watching and waiting and when the opportunity arises we will book flights from the U.K. to Ercan.

update.
Phoned easyjet customer services, 24 hours before flight due, provided information issued by BRS about Green Line restrictions and have obtained a flight voucher valid for 12 months for full value of return flights.
