Revolut suspicious transaction

I had an email from Revolut today informing me that there was a suspicious transaction and they had frozen my card. I logged on to the app, not via the email link, and sure enough there was a transaction for ₺92.65 in name of www.glistencamping.com. I confirmed that it wasn't my transaction and cancelled the card, otherwise they will not accept any responsibility for future transactions from that retailer. Glistencamping.com no longer exists.

I've reviewed recent transactions but they are all fairly regular so I'd be interested to hear from anybody else that has had the same issue. Maybe we have a transaction with the same retailer or maybe it's just a completely random scam.

My husband has now disabled contactless, online and ATM transactions on his card. The latter can be enabled when required.

I had already ordered a replacement card as the one I had stopped working in the ATM (another suspicion that my details could have been skimmed) but I took them up on a free replacement for backup.

That's concerning COA, at least it wasn't a huge amount, and easily missed, which I suppose was the object of it, to try it out. Touch wood, so far in my case. A friend had an unauthorised transaction a while back, so I took to freezing card after I heard about it, just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the tip on disabling contactless.

I had one for a small amount but it was picked up by the bank.
If they get away with a small amount they then go for a much bigger amount.

I guess the trick is not to put too much money on the card

Contactless is just starting to be used here in North, much more widely used in the South so not particularly an issue these days.

That's it EJS, just have a small amount, which won't cause you too much financial hardship. £10 is not a big amount, but that's only their start off to try, before they go bigger. I got scammed / skimmed, whatever you call it, with my UK bank card whilst I was in ROC a good few years ago. I know exactly where it happened, so never use your card at the popular coffee place in the mall next to Ikea....don't know if I am allowed to name the place but it lacks any stars from me, and quite honesty bucks. I was buying a coffee grinder at the time, otherwise would have paid in cash. Good few thousand in sterling taken from the account in 2 amounts, luckily Halifax were on to it, but was a bit of a hassle to deal with from here at the time.

COA - Agree that contactless is a "new" thing here, but it won't take long, so better being aware and disabling if you don't want it.
