The TRNC response to COVID19

Firstly can I just say I’m not trying to upset anyone and I’ve waited a number of weeks before posting this. We’ve got a house in Girne (bought 15 years ago and used for multiple holidays ever since) - this morning I’ve received the cancellation of our NYE flights - this is the 5th visit cancelled this year. Whilst I appreciate and applaud the C19 rates in comparison to the UK and many more - I worry that once they make entry a little more accessible the economy, particularly the restaurant sector, won’t survive the lockdown. We would have on multiple occasions been willing to do 3 days isolation at home - and again understand there must have been multiple occasions of people not adhering to this. So my question is personal safety v economic stability- where is the balance. Love to all in our favourite part of the world which is why I’m trying to be impartial as possible xx

We.bought our house 17 years ago which like Alisun we have had several trips every year since. This year we have had 3 trips cancelled although we probably would have done many more. I would be more than happy to do 7 days quarantine at home and really hope the electronic tagging trial is successful. Sadly though I see our time coming to an end in North Cyprus because things will not return to normal and travel will be very difficult for a long time to come, I fear. It is nearly one year to the date we last left and I am really worried about the condition of our property, we didn't have a management company looking after it as we came out so often. Still, what will be will be and it's not something I try to stress about as I can't change the current situation.

I think the economy was toast regardless. For example many business lose more money by opening them eg big hotels lose more money having to pay electric licensed staff etc and only 50 customers turn up. Another factor was the lack of hospital beds and staff
Even with the controls in place when there was a mini spike here the hospitals where overrun and had to send I'll to turkey. They would have quickly been in this situation that all governments aim to avoid of doctors having to choose who to keep alive.

If you compare the trnc economy to say the UK trnc is tourism and students and uk has a much diverse economy so if hey had followed the same path as uk on measures the economy would still have been much worse here and with probable devastating consequences. Just my opinion

The only people sent to Turkey were Turkish citizens who requested it.

3 days home isolation only applies if you are staying here for 3 days and have a negative test when you arrive. It can take a day to get the test results. Other than that is 7 days quarantine until the government announces any change.
