Warning! Road works, Karakum.

Starting today, a middle barrier is being built from the new harbour roundabout to the roundabout in Karakum.
10.00am to 4.00pm for a projected 10 days.
Road reduction to one lane.
What's going to happen to all the cars that normally park outside various shops ?

But not pull a U turn across 4 lanes to head back to town.

The start of the long promised dual carriageway then? The back roads through Ozankoy and down past the Bellapais roundabout to the Bellapais traffic lights are going to get crowded, one car accident and the tail back will reach Esentepe - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

So how will you get in & out of Lemar? Or will there be gaps in the barrier. It was bad enough when the cone things were there. With a solid barrier absolute havoc. As Waddo said one accident & gridlock.

Don't get picky. The government has lots of money burning a hole in their pocket so spending it on a project that will enable people to drive faster while texting can only be a good thing.

but not when you leave the plaza next door, there is a no entry sign one too on the entry to lemar

maybe a barrier will work but i doubt it. i remember before when they tried, a builders truck was indicating right, near lemar, it then proceeded into the opposite direction's outside lane with the drivers hand out the window in a stop position and turned down after the steak house a good distance to call very dangerous.

I certainly won't get picky! In particular when they have half finished this bit and start on the dual carriageway extension through to Karsiyaka I will be delighted - lol.

Of course if you really want a traffic jam then just wait till they start to build the roundabout outside China Bazaar, timed right it should stop the traffic for months - best wait till the summer and the tourists return for that one.

Is it true about all non Cypriots now have to use the busses between 09:00 and 17:00?????

No one was supposed to turn right on that section heading into town or turn right into Lemar coming from town as there are solid unbroken double white lines all along it. Yes you are supposed to go to the roundabout and double back. Have seen lots of people nabbed and ticketed turning right by Alesta kebabs.
I know that when a friends car was hit, when he was in the LHL going into town, by a car driven across the double whites to turn into Lemar. She blamed my friend and was horrified when the police pointed out that she was the one at fault.

Sophie, luckily for him she was!
Unlike the drunken, uninsured, untaxed chappie that back ended us when he fell asleep at the wheel and then drove off in his badly damaged car. He didn't get far as it conked out and the police found him and gave him accommodation for the night.
