Rhetoric without any meaningful action! It will never happen due to self-interest.

Re: New path to Citizenship
It must surely make sense to be able to do residency for 5 or 10 years.
For those that are older I'm sure a lot would pay up front to stop going through this hassle every year.
On a purely ruthless cold hearted revenue view for the government they might well get 10 years of fees from someone who to put it delicately might only get value for 3 or 4.
Its not as if they are going to give us any welfare if we run out of money in 3 years.

Always the same noise - home owners only will qualify at a price - leaseholders and renters will only be accepted when the uptake is less than expected - lol. Apply today and wait for the rule change in three years so you don’t qualify, shame really but it will keep another branch of the Ministry in more work.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

The authorities are really missing a trick here. This could give a significant boost to the coffers especially during these difficult times.
Cannot see citizenship happening.

Problem is, I've learned my lesson by paying up front for a number of services and haven't always for the better.

Now at the age of 76, I would be more than happy to pay for 5 years Residency up front. I have to start the ordeal again in April - they backdated my on line residency to May 21! Been here for 15 years now, don't want/can't get citizenship - I'm now "only" a renter!

There you have it some will some won’t.
As posh said they are missing a trick I would imagine some lump sums at the moment would help the government.

Without a doubt there will be reasons why it won’t work and why it won’t be available for everyone. How about - only applicable to house owners, who have lived here AND completed residency every year for the past 10 years without being off the Island for more than 90 days in any rolling 5 years, just for starters? Renters can apply for a nominal fee of 1 years minimum wage but only if they fulfil the same criteria as a house owner but without a house. People who lease property effectively have paid for a number of years rent up front so they won’t be able to apply at all - unless they have leased property from the Government in which case they will automatically be given citizenship. People who only use their property for income or holidays will be allowed to apply but only so the Government can find out where they live and that all their taxes both in Cyprus and in the UK if it is a second home can be collected. Everyone else outside these categories can stay at the Cratos - lend lease hand guns will be provided!
Merry Christmas all, it’s too early to think about what next year will bring so just enjoy yourselves as best you can.

Has everyone totally discounted that perhaps the Cratos had a bit of a marketing promotion?
Hotels are struggling and needing new ideas. Paintball is popular, but maybe if we upgrade it to live ammo......
