1000s of mutations identified, the reason the Kent one was highlighted having been discovered first in September, it made up 75% of infections in SE, the SA variant could possibly effect younger age group.

The U.K. response and actions around this pandemic may not have been perfect in some peoples eyes, however U.K. research into different variants of a virus and others is world leading. There is no doubt these variants and others will be present in Europe and many other countries.

A virus will constantly mutate and change to survive, hence each year a new flu vaccine. It is nothing new.
