Still confused about the curfew

If we and two others meet in someone's house for dinner, see the New Year in and then leave for home at say, 1pm and were subsequently stopped by the police at the bottom of the Karaoglanoglu bye pass (a favourite of theirs) how could we convince them that we had not been at a large "do"? Or am I worrying over nothing?

There is no curfew has far has I'm aware, just restaurants are to close at 9 pm unless providing takeaways.
Unless I'm out of date there is no restriction on moving around at anytime or anywhere, unlike the first lockdown when you needed Police permission and couldn't travel between districts.

Kerry is right Sophie. It is just that premises can not be open after 9pm. There is no restriction on movement.

Having said that the restriction on home visits has never been lifted since it was implemented earlier in the year. So while you are allowed to meet in a group of 6 at a table in a restaurant officially you are not allowed to visit people at home. That still exists because it has never been removed. Whether they realise it still exists and would enforce it is a different matter of course.

CLARIFICATION RELATING TO GATHERINGS ON NEW YEARS EVE IN PRIVATE HOMES & RESIDENCES.

Following several queries from members requesting clarification in relation to New Years' Eve gatherings at private residences/homes, we have received the following response.
“We have been advised by the Ministry of Health that in relation to New Year’s gatherings in private residences, that the response from the Ministers is that although they appreciate the difficulty in controlling gatherings in private houses, they are very much hoping that people will take into account the conditions under which the Coronavirus spreads, and restrict gatherings to close family members only”

This was the advice given to the BRS in response to your question. With 217 cases we should all just stay safe and not give covid the slightest chance to spread further.

With the way things are going, I would be inclined to forgo any form of mixing until this virus has been consigned to history. There will be plenty of time to celebrate when this is all over. Just my opinion.

Here are the decisions of the supreme board
The Communicable Diseases Supreme Council decided to suspend the schools on January 4 and to close the southern border gates, but it was learned that no official statement was made because the decisions taken will be consulted with Prime Minister Saner.

The Infectious Diseases Supreme Council convened urgently last night. Consensus was reached on some issues, but no explanation was made.

According to the information obtained by Gündem Cyprus, the decisions made today will be forwarded to the Minister of Health Ali Pilli, Prime Minister Ersan Saner and the decision will be produced together.

The most striking issue among the decisions is the interruption of education. The committee made a principle decision regarding the withdrawal of the February holiday to January 4 and the closure of schools until the end of January.

The Southern border will be closed completely.
Among the principle decisions of the Supreme Council is the complete closure of the Southern Cyprus border. Schools are already on vacation in the South There is a consensus that only those who have to go to the South regarding the disease situation should go to the South with special permission.

Curfew between 22.00-05.00 It was
discussed that the curfew could be implemented between 22.00 at night and 05.00 in the morning between the decisions of the Supreme Council. The committee reached a consensus on this point.

Pilli-Saner meeting
The decisions taken by the Supreme Council will be forwarded to Prime Minister Ersan Saner by the Minister of Health Ali Pilli today. An official announcement is expected after the decisions are finalized.

None of us know until decisions are announced am afraid Sophie. Can your dish be frozen if not required? Might make it easier to make the decision.

alphamike, I'm responsible for the starter for 6 and unfortunately you can't freeze salmon after it has been allowed to defrost naturally. Never mind, we haven't been officially informed yet and in any case worse things happen.

That's it, lot bigger problems. You might have to use as a main course for two, not a great hardship I would have thought if you love salmon.

Yeniduzen, just now:
Infectious Diseases High Committee made new decisions. According to this; It has been decided that the semester break in all primary and secondary schools in TRNC will be between 04-15 January 2021 (including both dates). It was decided to impose a curfew from 31/12/2020 to 04/01/2021 (including both dates) from 22:00 at night until 05:00 in the morning. Kaynak: 22.00-05.00 arası sokağa çıkma yasağı / Yarı yıl tatili 04-15 Ocak'ta

There is more but best to read it yourselves.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

So it is a curfew now from 10pm. Time to get back from the restaurant when it closes at 9pm I guess. It also says groups of no more than 10 can meet in a house so that has changed. Unless they are staying the night they will have to be home by 10pm of course.

No problems, there were only 6 of us meeting in a private house in any case. Today we're going to swap the food each of us were cooking for each course, so nothing goes to waste. Mind you, I'm keeping our bubbly to ourselves!.
