Ozankoy funeral

Today I was told that the reason for the village to be closed off with a heavy police presence was for the funeral of the young man who was tragically killed on a pedestrian crossing in Girne . Dont know the details of the accident so it is wrong to speculate. Speaking to a TC friend who is a policeman we talked about the incident. We all know that driving standards here are very poor but I did ask him is why the police seem to allow cars to park on pedestrian crossings and the wavy lines either side, his answer was that everyone knows a policeman so getting off this offence is only a phone call away so the police don't bother. Later today a car with a Tc woman driver drove along my lane with a very young child just stood up in the passenger seat. This is so wrong, things have to change!

That is just tragic, but have to say I am scared to even attempt using zebra crossings here after almost being run down twice on the same one. The latest incident a few weeks ago, the crossing in Karakum by Lemar. Successfully got three quarters of the way across, cars had stopped to allow us to cross, when as per normal a nutcase, potential murderer, shot up undertaking past the stationary cars.. one step further and I would have been dead, he never slowed down, just carried on like the proverbial bat out of hell. I would have been safer just wandering across the road gazing at my mobile, for some reason they seem much safer..... I am so sad someone lost their life in this way, it could have been me, they will never learn especially when the authorities condone it. Condolences to the poor mans family.

Note - "semi-humorous reply" - carry a baseball bat at all times, and in such instances, try and score a "home run" on the culprit's windscreen/ window...
Here in the UK, I'm tempted to carry a walking stick to "deal with" cyclists who ride hell for leather along the pavements.... (just prod it between the spokes.... )

Jofra had he not been traveling at such speed, and literally scared the **** out of me and my husband, I certainly would have punched the b******s lights out. I wouldn’t need a baseball bat. Sorry but it is not even semi humorous. A little respect and consideration for human life goes a long way.

So a serving officer in "The Police" admitted to you that the "Police Force" is basically "CORRUPT"?

There is a saying, told to me when we first came here " If you don't have at least one policeman in every family, you stand no chance" Hence their guffaws of laughter when I was fined for driving 4Km over the speed limited!!
