Travel Refusal For Medical Treatment

I applied for travel permission halfway through my dental treatment course, Girne to Girne for next Monday appointment having confirmed with my dentist that she was open to practice with the latest lockdown and confirmed she was indeed exempt and open, but my travel was refused by the online 'Ministry of Travel'! How are surgeries allowed to legally operate when their patients are barred from getting to them?! An enigma to me!! I have appealed so await next SMS for final decision otherwise continue in pain and baby food gargled down with bottes of local brandy!!

My hsband got permission for emergency dental treatment this week in Girne. Obviously no rhyme or reason for rejection.

Do you need permission for medical treatment if you live in and are to be treated in Girne?
One other thing that springs to mind is, I read somewhere that permission is to be applied for on the day, not in advance, but am sorry, can't for the life of remember where I read that.

Applying on the day can be tricky as the other day when it started people were waiting between two and four hours for approval. We travelled that day to Near East in Lefkosa and were stopped by the Police check on the way at the roundabout before the bypass. We were just asked where we were going and once I showed him the appointment card I was told it was ok no mention of permission.

Copied from the BRS web site.

"We are currently trying to get clarification from the Government relating to these questions. We are aware that if you are attending appointments inside your District (GIRNE or LEFKOSA) there should be not be a problem. However, should you need to leave either of the two Districts then you will need permission. In those cases please log on to the following website and apply for permission to travel. "

Thanks CW.
I can appreciate that it could be tricky, especially if it's an early appointment. Believe they are getting swamped with requests, not all of which are of of a needy nature. So if you have to attend somewhere within your area, then no permission required.

My husband drives from Alsancak to the general hospital in Nicosia every day for treatment. His doctors issued a note for him which he shows when stopped enroute to/from. He is frequently stopped and has had no issues.

You do need a local phone though as it will nor recognise a UK one. Even if you put in a local number you have to have access to it as they send a code to that phone. Then you can submit the form and then they send you a code to that phone that you can show to the Police if stopped.
