Pop ups on Computer problem

I was wondering if someone could help me please and tell me how to stop a pop up ad keep coming on my screen.
I thought I knew how to block a pop up because I had done before,but this one same one keeps coming back and its driving me mad.
Any ideas - very grateful

I downloaded a programme that has given me pop ups so I got rid of the programme (it was a curiosity factor ony), but the person to tell you how to get rid of them is our 'boss', soner! Hopefully he will read this and help you, although I think there are other computer whiz kids on here. I agree it is VERY annoying.

If you've got a virus or a crawler your machine may need 'cleaning'. I had a series of pop ups driving me mad recently, a lot of Russian advertising that just would not go away!
If so, if you already have virus protection it will need upgrading - if it's any good - but that's after the machine has been cleaned properly.

What are the pop ups saying? What browser are you using?

Charlotte- There are two ways you can sort this out.
Firstly download a free program called 'Malwarebytes'
Get it here, http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/ma ... free/-make sure you get the free one,install it
then run a full scan and reboot.
it will clean out any nasties you may have acquired.
As regards the pop ups-you should use firefox as your browser as there are free pop up blockers.
the best one is Adwareplus (Free).
Install that using the addons facility under the 'tools' option in firefox.
