According to the Kıbrıs newspaper, yesterday the Department and Antiquities and Museums, started to clean up the crusader castle, apparently according to the newspaper because of articles and reports written by Kıbrıs in the past. As you can see from the photo there is grafitti on the walls and rubbish in the buildings. Apparently it has also been used as a shelter for animals.
Apparently there's currently a clean-up at Buffavento Castle

humans leaving rubbish around? In North Cyprus? Lets play it safe and ban them from the Lapta walkway, they obviously can't be trusted to clear up after themselves!
Some are wise and some otherwise.....

By the way, if anyone plans on visiting the castle in the near future, then be very careful driving there - apparently certain sections of the road have fallen away recently. The photo below comes from Monday's gündemkıbrıs news website, and shows part of the road between the Saint Ioannis Chrysostomos Monastery and the castle. The report's headline says "Are they waiting for someone to die? "
