Re: Shooting in Lapta.
Kiplet, I presume by the "shooting in Famagusta" you mean the incident that occurred on the same evening as the Lapta one. If that it is the case, then you'll be relieved to learn it wasn't an attempt to kill or maim anyone.kiplet wrote:Shooting in Famagusta then shooting in Lapta ?? Is this sign of the times ?

According to the above report, although 48-year-old Doğan Eyişan told police that someone had shot him in the heel, however it turned out, following a police investigation, that Eyişan had shot himself by mistake.
Apparently Eyişan, whilst driving in a friend's car was firing out of the window. One presumes he was celebrating an event. Unfortunately this a common practice on the mainland, though it's not clear from the report if Eyişan is indeed a mainlander. In any case, according to the report, the gun jammed and whilst Eyişan was trying to release the trigger the gun went off in the car, the bullet hitting Eyişan in the foot. Whilst being treated at the hospital Eyişan told the police someone had shot him.
However, after an investigation, the police found the gun at the house of the car owner. Both Eyişan and the car owner are to be charged with falsifying information and for having a unlicensed firearm.
