Ragged Robin

For those of us who knew Francis, argued with her, disagreed with her, helped - or at least tried to help her - yet still missed her when she left over a year ago. The local businessman who looked after her for many years and is now ready to sort out her grave site and provide a headstone, has asked me what words would be suitable to place on the headstone?

So, I throw this open to the forum and community at large, can anyone think of suitable words (stop moaning about the traffic past your house is not acceptable - lol) that best say farewell to RR?

Thank you.

Would you post on here when the grave site and headstone is finished please, I used to visit Francis when in Kyrenia and take her aids from the UK what she didn't use she passed on to Cheshire Home. I wasn't there when she passed but hoping to holiday there in December so would like to visit her grave I have no idea where she was buried.

Rugby fan, of course I will, she is up in Greenhills, looking down on us mere mortals - lol. When all is settled I will post all the information. Take care out there.

She loved the island, its people and its food. Disliked anyone who treated animals without love and respect plus anyone who lacked respect for people who were disabled in any way. Also disliked cretinous arrogant drivers. She was a one off, not to be repeated human being.

SWMBO has always said that on my tombstone she’s going to put this epitaph:

“Could not walk past a sleeping dog without giving it a kick.”

But knowing RR’s love for her dogs perhaps that wouldn’t be suitable (:Q)

I was very fond of Francis and kind of lost touch and was so very sadto hear she had died. I wish I could think of osmething appropriate for her tombstone - am tyring to think of a biblical verse. The only thing i cna think of is not necessarily appropriate. Th eonly thing that ocmes to mind is 'Farewell but not for ever' (from Dream of Gerontius/ But relaly one needs a one liner about caring - she did loads for the Cheshire Home and for a short hwile we were both on the committee together.

I was a friend of Francis I took some aids from the UK for her, if she didn’t need them all she passed them to Cheshire Home who she spoke fondly of, I too have tried to think of something appropriate can only think of “I cared” or “I thought of others” .

For those who knew her, argued with her, helped her but also those who just enjoyed the banter -

I first met Francis in 1997 in Ozankoy at B’s Hive Cafe run by Barbara & Graham Burton and at other venues. She was observant but sat in the background, but if she needed to say anything she wouldn’t hold back. Something that she took forward with her for the rest of her days. She was very passionate about Northern Cyprus and didn’t accept change easily. Why would she, when she had lived there for many years. She was a selfless person, loved her animals and had good friends who were there for her.

I personally would like it left to her friends to say how they wish to remember her.
