Residency renewal in progress and travel out of TRNC?
Good morning all.
My wife and I are at 60% completion of out residency renewal “Immigration Department evaluation our application”.
We will be double vaccinated (AZ) in two weeks time.
Happy to wait another two weeks after our second vaccination, then we would like to (a) travel south on shopping and visit friends trips, and (b) travel to the UK to visit family.
If ages are relevant, we are over and under 60.
As our residency renewals may still be some weeks, maybe months, from completion does anyone know if it is possible to do (a) or (b) above before completion without triggering any problems on the residency renewal front?
TIA

Print a copy of the page which states "Your application is being evaluated". We renewed out passports using this as proof of residency without a problem. It should also satisfy the border control.

Sorry, l don’t follow you.
You can renew your UK passports without having to step foot outside of the TRNC.
A screen shot print out of a residency application progress status - there are no date credentials displayed, so the screen shot could have been taken at any time.
If the border staff can look up your residency status online, which they can, perhaps… big perhaps… they can also access the renewal status.
I am asking specifically if an exit from the TRNC through any crossing point to the south, or an exit from the TRNC through Ercan, or even Girne or Famagusta by sea, for that matter, whilst a renewal of TRNC residency is still in progress, does the action of exiting the TRNC have any unforeseen or adverse consequence to the residency renewal itself.

To renew a passport online from here a proof of residency has to be downloaded on the application procedure. What I am saying is that I used a copy of the "Your application is being evaluated" instead and it worked.

Quite - I am asking specifically if an exit from the TRNC through any crossing point to the south, or an exit from the TRNC through Ercan, or even Girne or Famagusta by sea, for that matter, whilst a renewal of TRNC residency is still in progress, does the action of exiting the TRNC have any unforeseen or adverse consequence to the residency renewal itself. Unquote.
Then why not go and ask immigration as they are the only people who can give you the current answer?

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

For sure, we can do that. Not as straightforward as it used to be. An appointment system now operates.
I am asking here because, surely one forum member is / has been in the same position as we find ourselves, and has already trod this path in recent days.

There was a thread here about leaving the Country before your residency has been finalised the other day. If you were away for more than 30 days you would be fined for those days over on your return. I did not believe that but checked with the Ex Pats Consultancy and it is true although it has been raised to 60 days now.

Re: Residency renewal in progress and travel out of TRNC?
As it seems there are currently delays in getting residency applications processed and finalised I think this is an important consideration for those who may have to leave the TRNC for good reason. For example an emergency requiring a return at short notice.
So just to be clear, as things stand if your residency application is being processed then you can leave the TRNC and return within 60 days without incurring a fine?
Is this correct?
Please don’t offer your point of view as that may not be correct but give evidence from an official source.
I am sure this would be useful.

Posh I asked the question directly to Havva Karabeyaz the owner of Ex Pats Consultancy Service last week and the answer is yes. She told me it was 30 days but they have extended it.
If you follow the link posted by JoandJelly that is to Havva's news letter where it is discussed.

Re: Residency renewal in progress and travel out of TRNC?
Does anyone know when the 60 days begins, for example when you press 'renew' on the previous year's residency permit, or when you visit the police, or when the immigration office recieves your application?
Thanks
Thanks

I just read the 60 days begins from when the police accept your application.
