What if you don't have an Ada pass because you are a visitor, can you not shop or eat out?

This is going to be an interesting challenge for those returning to the TRNC or coming over for a holiday.
I am sure it’s been well thought out.

Lol.

Maybe those who were not vaccinated in the TRNC will have to show proof of vaccination from whatever country they travelled from? Who knows.

If they cannot go shopping, into restaurants or bars, it’s one way of loosing weight!!

Well that's going to be interesting. Can't shop, so can't eat in and can't eat out either. Going to be difficult to explain that to the dogs perhaps some kind butcher will chuck a few bones out of the back door.

Stand firm, don’t panic…… I am sure there will be a solution!!

Just love the TRNC.

You can go back on line and download it again. I did that as mine was missing half of the QR code. It wouldn't print properly but eventually it did. I also managed to get the QR code to work on my phone. Not ideal having to do this more than once but worth a go even if it tries your patience.

I believe that the premises mentioned have to apply ,possibly to get a scanner.
Don,t know who is responsible to operate it.
Same as before ,temperature ,sign in ,disinfect hands at the entrance .
All gone south now so daily infection numbers increasing .

Many questions re this "pass". What if you're a tourist? In Turkey there is something similar only for residents. What if you don't have a smart phone? What if you don't have 3 or 4g and rely on outside wifi? If you don't have a smartphone, is the card still accepted. PCR tests will be so I assume cards yes. As normal this has been rushed through giving everyone 7 days so the system will most likely crash.

Yes ring 1111 and speak to them. They will sort it out for you. I had to do that and the hardest bit and longest was waiting listening to crap music while someone came on the line. The next bit he sorted literally in 30 seconds told me to log back on and it would work and it did.

Thank you Chris, is there one in English by any chance or can anyone explain the turkish one.

I followed previous advice to not use google translate; it's fairly easy, take pasaport (Sic) option on first field, next enter passport number without 'P' then enter Christian name (s) and surname. Then date of birth. Hopefully that'll be it sorted.

Had to ring 111.

My with and I do no exist. So the Guy sets up a Pass from the details I have given him. i.e when was your first injection, when was your second injection, what is your passport number. So I now have an ADA Pass that has been created by my information. Just goes to show that the government's IT department must be run by (and I won't say). But I have forward the book "Computer programing for Dummies"

Oh yes, I was 30 years in Lloyds/TSB Computer centre. So I think I have a little IT experience.

The Guy made up the Pass from the information I gave him over the phone......

When you go for your booster injection they will check & correct your information online so you can then access your AdaPass - providing the system is working of course!
We have had ours laminated, if you go to the Magic Touch near Jasmine Court they can reduce it to Kimlik size, the one at Dogankoy can laminate but not reduce.

The certificate is in Turkish and English.

The application form is currently only in Turkish. This may help:

Belge Türü = Document Type
Kimlik / Pasaport Numarası* = ID / Passport number
Adınız* = First Name
Soyadınız* = Surname
Doğum Tarihi* = Date of Birth

Hemen Sorgula = Inquire now / Submit

Yes, this is all well and good. But like me and my Wife if they do not have your data on file it will not work.

They then ask you all the above questions plus what date you had your first Jab and what date you had your second jab.

Then it works, which just goes to show how stupid it is. The TRNC Computer side of things i.e residency/ Driving Licence etc, etc is so backward.

Why don't they bring in a team of "European/Western" Programmers and System Analysts that would write and test these Programs/Apps in a few weeks and they will work.

Are you saying that if you go online to complete the application and answer the questions the pass is produced? Are there no checks on who you are or the information you type in?

Not sure this is ever going to works as it should.

Seems like when you enter information online, in my case call helpline, they ask dates of vaccinations. They are obviously checking information against their database as person on phone knew what type of vaccination I had. Your certificate also has an individual QR code, I know this as mine and my wife's were different code numbers.

Thanks Soner.

Still have no idea how this will work for people like us returning to the TRNC or those coming over for a holiday of a few weeks. Double vaccinated, PCR tested, etc etc.

I can understand the value of a pass to enable travel and possibly for entry to mass events such as football, festivals etc but to access restaurants, bars, shops I really don’t see the logic. In the U.K. a vaccination pass has been talked about for travel and possibly some businesses such as nightclubs etc may ask for proof of vaccination but that’s about it. I think the U.K. govt realise that apart from travel, enforcing people to have a vaccine pass to enter venues or businesses is fraught with difficulties. The public would turn against it for sure.

Can you really see the old boys at the coffee shop producing a pass? A pass to go into a supermarket…. Really?

Who checks the pass on entry to these establishments or businesses….. a scanner, a person at the entrance? Will people really just be turned away or refused entry? Are the Polis going to suddenly turn up and do a check? Do they have the resources even? Cue scenes of people running out the back doors. Lol.

It now also appears the website is proving a bit of a challenge, so cannot see the older generation rushing to get a pass.

Maybe I have missed something or misinterpreted what this is about. If I have hopefully I will be corrected. At present I really cannot see how this will work. Let’s see how the next week or so pans out with this one!

So if you're not vaccinated does that mean you need a PCR test every 72hrs to go to the supermarket etc?

Posh, What happens in the UK when you receive your vaccination? Here, we are given a tatty bit of green card (not complaining at all by the way) with our details hurriedly written on it, sometimes incorrectly - again no complaint - and a vaccine bar code sticker applied to it for each vaccine received. All of those details are then transferred to the electronic AdaPass, which you either print out ore copy to your smart phone. After that has happened there is no reason to carry your vaccine green card within the TRNC. Of course if you attempt to go South then you need to carry everything, including your PCR/Antigen certificate, green card (which they do/do not recognise anyway and inside leg measurement, phase of the moon - in Greek, Mothers Grandfathers first name, etc, you get the picture, anything to make life difficult! Or just wave your passport and pass on through - like the UK the rules are extremely pliable - lol.

I would think that visitors who can provide proof of vaccination prior to arrival in the TRNC will have no problems and not need an AdaPass for some time. Probably their UK documentation - along with ticket/ticket stubs will suffice.

As for access to establishments, that is another game. Government buildings will definitely require AdaPass - give any civil servant the smallest vestige of power and they will abuse it to the absolute maximum! Some supermarkets will play the game to the letter of the law - Sah is a good example! Others totally ignore it now and will continue to do so, protected by in-laws, outlaws and officials with vested interests! Smaller businesses, like bars and coffee shops will be prime targets for the AdaPolice and may have to take their chances or fold through of business.

In a perfect world the idea of a Pass of any kind is a great idea, sadly there is no such thing as a perfect world and it will come back to individuals checking other individuals and then making up their own minds if they will enter and stay in an area where they knowingly mingle with unvaccinated people. I can even see a time coming where people will wear their pass around their necks in the same way as they now wear their masks - easy solution really, no mask, no entry, no pass no entry. Then again, this is Cyprus is it not - lol.

Forestpixie, It looks like it will be, if no AdaPass then no entry. You can’t get an AdaPass if you are not vaccinated, so no entry. Nobody is being forced to have vaccinations it is personal choice.

You don’t need a driving license to buy a car, but you need one to drive. So if you want to drive then get a license and if you don’t want a license, then walk or take a bus/taxi.

If you don’t want a vaccine (therefore no AdaPass) but you want to buy food then buy it online and have it delivered - the choice is still yours!

I know it is a bit Catch 22 but the World is in a pandemic and people are not surviving it well, it is still spreading and still adapting to changes. I do not look down on unvaccinated folk, it is their right to decide, but I will take every opportunity to avoid them as well.

In the U.K. when you get your vaccinations you receive a card with your name, details of vaccine administered and dates. Plus the vaccine batch you received. These details are automatically uploaded to the NHS website within 24 hrs.

When travelling you can access the NHS website via secure log in etc and view your records. Importantly you can also see details of vaccinations received with all details. You can then download/print these records which are backed up with a generated QR code. These documents are valid 28 days after which you must repeat the process to get new set with new QR code. Along with s PCR test within 72hrs of flight this documentation is checked before flight and on arrival. For those who do not have on line access they can either contact GP surgery or NHS and after security checks they will produce documents which can be collected/posted out.

We will of course have our original vaccination card plus the downloaded/printed documents as required. Hopefully this is acceptable.

Can you really see the general population complying en mass, I cannot. Businesses refusing access may also feel the wrath as customers just go elsewhere. Like I said, fully understand the reasoning if travelling or possibly entry to mass events. However, for everyday activities I cannot see how it will work. It should be an individuals choice wether they wish to go into a bar, restaurant, supermarket etc. Vaccine passes were a hot topic a couple of months back here in the U.K. but I think the govt realise it’s a vote loser and public backlash would be strong, especially if needed to go shopping or down the pub!

Your explanation of access to establishments made me smile! Understand completely where you are coming from with this. Just love the TRNC.

Cheers for the answer, government haven't really confirmed everything as yet. I know theres a similar system in Turkey but I believe not for tourists so wonder if we will do the same, it all changes here regularly anyway.

Anyone any idea what the situation might be for those of us with an EU Digital Covid Certificate with regard to the Adapass and the need for the pass for entry to various establishments?

OK, I think the TRNC are trying to follow other countries ie RoC and UK with the use of AdaPass. Time will tell whether everyone will register or not.

Examples of visiting the RoC:

IKEA accept Adapass and Green Card with 2 vaccinations. Without these you can enter IKEA with a 72 for Antigen Test.
Cyprus Mall same as IKEA, however, in order not to lose customers, they have someone outside doing Antigen Tests and area for customers to wait for results, if negative they can enter the Mall.
Every shop I have been to in RoC have asked for Antigen test.

In TRNC:
I have only been asked once for Antigen Test and that was at Popeyes in Famagusta for eating in (yes, big junk food fan), Elektrokur and Azra Claire in Girne.

Soner,

The U.K. has no requirement for the ADA pass or any other pass. No tests required to enter establishments or businesses. There was talk about some businesses at there discretion asking for proof of vaccination before entry but that hasn’t happened. I just think that here in the U.K. it would be a step to far. Having to show a pass or proof of vaccination to go into a supermarket, restaurant or down the local pub would provoke a public backlash for sure. At present the government seem to be relying on common sense and personal choice. Surprisingly it sees to be working!

Some large events with big crowds attending require you to show double vaccination before entry which can be accessed and downloaded to phone or printed out. However; today for example, going to a football match was as it always has been.

I think it is just for convenience. Saves you taking the green card out with you all the time. Just show Adapass on smart phone which everybody carries around with them all the time. But....can't see how this works without passport or kimlik as there is no photo on the AdaPass certificate.

Oh yes, I did show passport to confirm, but would be better if AdaPass had a photo on cert.

So businesses will turn away customers? Hardly likely.

We have neighbours coming over on the 28 August from the UK, and double vaccinated by the NHS. Does this mean on the 29th when then need to shop for food they will not be able to as they will not have the ADA pass? or will their double vaccination be all that is required. If their double vaccination is accepted, why won’t ours be accepted that was done here and we live here. Also how are tourists going to buy food or go out anywhere, it will not be worth them coming, yet another reason to avoid TRNC. Problem seems to me to be the government do not think things through before implementing the rules.

Are government offices under the umbrella of public places as I can not actually find the information that an ada pass is required to enter.

They will in RoC. TRNC is a different story, I am guessing only 5% of businesses are asking for proof, mainly indoor restaurants, banks, etc. Let's see what happens from 20th Aug.

When neighbours arrive, they will have a PCR test, they can use that to enter shops for up to 7 days from date taken. Then they can get a free Antigen Test which would last 7 days if double vaccinated. I am sure information will come forth soon, maybe the double vaccination will be enough.

As I understood it you needed to have a PCR test to eat inside or go into various places. Then they changed that to say that if you were double vaccinated you didn't. As others have said the ADA pass really is just an easier way for you to show you are covered and for others (who bother) to check.

As regards visitors well then I guess it will be go down the PCR route as before.

In any event any system is only as good as them that Police it. No checks at many shops and as Waddo said earlier Sah seems to be the most consistent and determined to do the job properly. When were you last asked to check your temperature on entering or give your contact details?

Nobody really knows the rules for PCR tests if you don't have an ADA pass, nor do we know if its required for tourists why can the government not determine all the rules then make an announcement. As said sadly another reason to avoid TRNC.

"Everybody carries a smart phone" - I know loads of people, especially the older generation who wouldn't know what a smart phone is. This is another not thought out, hair-brained rule, which will not work and even if it does it will create the 'Ping' pandemic which is having a worse effect on the British economy than the actual pandemic did.

I am pretty sure the paper copies will be fine, as they are now. I think people are over thinking the process. Basically we need to prove vaccinations, or have a 72hr Antigen Test or have 2 vacs with 7 day PCR or Antigen test. I do not think the authorities will make it legal that only the AdaPass is the only acceptable cert to access places. The AdaPass will be an easier option for the majority.
