Although I can’t speak from personal experience, I am aware of both Cypriots and Expats who have recently got a Biontech (Pfizer) booster having had 2 doses of Sinovac early this year. Recommend you go to Girne hospital to enquire with your jab record . You may get the jab there and then if you are lucky.

Info from the BRS is just go to the rear of the State Hospital in Girne, get a ticket and you will get a booster. No idea what the queues will be like but I am sure someone will kindly let us know.

GAU Medical Centre have Johnson and Astra Zenica - your choice, they ask you what you want.

Just turn up with your passport (and Green card if you've had 1 or 2 previous jabs) - no charge.

Don't know opening hours, went at around 09:30 - would suggest going before Lunch time.

They will give you instructions when you enter the building - very friendly and efficient.

Plenty of young people arriving (probably students) as well as older TC's and Ex-Pats (including one guy who was frightened of needles ;) )

Hi Keith,
Many thanks for the link and the map.
Went this morning, no queue straight in straight out, lovely people on the door as well.

From the roundabout sign posted the GAU drive 150 yards you will see a small aluminum cabin on the left which says Campus shack or something like that, turn left go straight, the building is signposted vaccination centre.

I don't actually know but I would imagine they are saying six months for a reason. We are also a few weeks away so will wait until our time and then go.

I'll try to answer a few questions in one go....

No age limit apparent - young students and older folks - I was probably the oldest at 75 :)

Best to go early in my experience of these things - usually more choice/less chance of 'em running out.

I was about 18 days short of the 6 months for my 3rd Jab, they weren't bothered.

They were giving 1st or 2nd jabs as well, to anyone who turned up as far as I could see.

The guy who was frightened of needles had a Johnsons vaccine as his 1st jab - it's supposed to last 12 months, so he would suffer fewer jabs!

They will want to stick the label from the vaccine bottle on the top of your green card, and write something on it as well, so if you've had your green card laminated, try trimming the plastic coating flush with the top of the card, then heating the plastic coating up (hairdryer?) and carefully peeling the laminate back to reveal the top of the card so that they can get at it. Be really careful that you don't peel off the writing underneath!

If you have not had your card laminated - DON'T !!!

It isn't difficult to remove the lamination and you don't need hair dryer I've just done two and it took about five minutes.

1. Using sharp scissors, cut right around the green card, removing ALL the excess laminate.
2. Slowly peal back small piece of one corner (I used my nails, but you could use a pin or something)
3. Then hold laminate in one hand and the card in the other and gently peel apart evenly from top to bottom both sides.
4. Can't tell they were once laminated and no writing effected. I suspect the hot weather is making it easier.

Hmmm...!

It may depend on whether they were 'Hot Laminated' or 'Cold Laminated' - or there may be something else going on.

The reason for my original warning was that Hubby had his card laminated at the Reklam place almost opposite Green Petrol, and when he started to remove the laminate, a lot of the print came off with it!

Laying the Laminate back down on the card, it looked fine though.

So obviously folks (and this is my usual Get Out) - "Your Mileage may Vary " ;)

Are they giving boosters to people that have had 2 jabs of AstraZeneca or Pfizer or is it only Sinovac?

To be certain, you would need to go along and ask them...

During the time that I was at the GAU Medical Centre, I never saw them refuse any request, they simply asked the people coming in what they wanted, and as far as I could see, they got what they wanted.

3rd Jab to be taken min 4 months, maximum 6 months from last jab. Over 55's can have 3rd Jab from tomorrow. You can simply go to any walk in centre to have the jab. There is no TRNC Gov information as to which type of vaccine you have already had, 3rd jab seems to apply to all vaccine types administered.

If you are in the TRNC on holiday from the UK and whilst there your 6 months vaccine jab expires (Say you had the jab at the beginning of April and you are still in Cyprus Sept-End of Oct). What happens? Are there any rules on this?

Haven't heard of any rules, but, if you are still here, why not just go for a booster jab?

They will give you a booster but it won't be recognised in the UK.

Hi the British Government announce this over the weekend;

Travellers from Europe who have been vaccinated with two different jabs will now have to quarantine on arrival in Britain, after the Government altered the rules this weekend.

It means that people who have had two doses from different suppliers – for example a first from AstraZeneca and a second from Pfizer – will have to remain in isolation for 10 days after arriving in the UK.

I don't know if this will applied to the booster as well.

Had booster jab at GAU this morning 10.15am, no queuing at all. Asked if I wanted AZ or Sino. Only one person turned away and that was because it was only four months since her second jab.

Nannieannie, What wonderful news that will be for all the TC students who have only just managed to get around the first problem of North/South vaccinations. UK is rapidly becoming “Isolation Island” - what was it? Oh I remember now Three cheers for Brexit - lol, it’s great building back better.

It is known that those of us that have had 2 doses of A Z may have a Pzifer booster in the UK.

Just this morning went to Gunsay hospital in Girne and was given the choice of Pfizer or sinovac. Booster and took 10 mins . Doesn’t matter if you have previously had sinovac you can have the choice. TURKEY health ministry from what I read states better to have 3rd sinovac but that contradicts other country recommendations so really down to personal choice I am afraid

The announcement was in various media ie the telegraph, etc but I checked the gov web page and it is posted on there under the section for confirmation/conditions for vaccinated travellers into the U.K.

I cannot find any information about whether the booster has to be the same, but I would personally asked to have the same vaccine for the booster as it is changing all the time 🤬🤬🤬

For info went to Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital today to try and get pfizer (biontec) booster to back up my two sinovacs. Was told wait until three months from your sinovac.

Similar for us erol, went to GAU for Johnstone but they had run out so had AstraVenica instead - talked to the doc there and he told me that was the best combination - who knows really? Have had two Sinovac and just 10 days away from 6 months since last one but he said it is fine anytime between 4 and 6 months from the last one anyway.

Today was a day of aches and pains and tired for most of the day, no pain in injection site but generally all over so guess the vaccine has worked its way around us, now feeling much better and happy.

i went to GAU yesterday at 3pm. I was the only person there. I got the AstraZeneca jab. I was about 20 days from the 6 months suggested. No reaction to the injection. Directions: If coming from the bypass, turn at the roundabout that says GAU. Take the second entry on the left, there is an entry box there. Go straight on and you will see the medical centre right in front of you. Parking to the right and just go in. Make sure to bring your passport and Green Vaccination card.

I hope they don't decide to close the GAU clinic as so few people are attending it. Instant service, comfortable arm chairs to rest in and parking within 20 yards. It a no brainer.

Pleased to report that all the after effects of Mondays AstraZenica jab have now faded away, wife had exactly the same symptoms and her's has gone as well. Had an antigen test this morning as well just in case - negative for both of us.

That is us now three jabs done with only the very mildest of after effects, get out there and get jabbed if you have not already done so, nothing to fear but social media!!!!

Yes, next to A and E at the rear in the adjacent block. Look for portable signs saying Aşı Merkezi when you park up and a group of people waiting around for 15 minutes after their jabs!
