Poison in Catalkoy area

To all dog-lovers in Catalkoy area. PLEASE be very careful if you walk your pets up the mountain to the left of Bellapais Abbey as my friend was recently up there with her two dogs, one of which ate something that had been laced with poison. He died within 15 minutes. Marion put something in the paper about this but I'm not sure if she put anything on Kibkom. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to remind folk of the dangers that lurk in the most unlikely places! This happened last week so take care.

KAR keep a list of all reported poisonings so worth while advising them cos they publicise it on their website.

There is also a Facebook Group called Pets Against Poison one in English and one in Turkish, so if you are a member of Facebook you can also post any similar warnings on either of these groups.

It is getting quite difficult to exercise one's dog with any peace of mine. Poison seems to be dumped from east to west and the mountains in between. One cannot take dogs on beaches and other places, and it is getting quite disheartening for many.

But if one hears of any poisoning, please let the press know (me for instance) so that we can warn through the pages of the newspaper, make sure it is reported to KAR as is suggested above, because they do keep a file and they do keep the police informed (as far as I kn0w),l and then do paste on here. I cannot remember if I did last time - I am sure it WAS on here,
But as they used to say in Australia 'be alert not not alarmed' which is all very wlel until one' sprecious pet dies before your face. My dog is very much alive and getting fatter every day due to lack of exercise. I am terrified, not only of the poison spread aorund but also the dogs that roam. I wasa outside el Sabor restaurant in lefkosia today and there was a lovelyu looking young alsation, with collar that was roaming aorund and aorund, but when my dog barked at it I froze. Nothing happene,d but that is how it gets to one after a while.
If ONLY someone could get evidence and take it to the police, they will prosecute as it is on the law book and there are fiens and/or imprisonment for curelty to ANY animal, but no one is ever seen depositing the poison. so the police can do nothin,g and the government cannot seem to be able to do much, and in spite of requests for the control, of poison sales, it is still happening.
But thanks for the warning - and please keep posting on here to warn others. It could save lives - our beloved pets. Thanks.
