Hi there,
my husband and I have been trying to get sterling out of bank ATMs but for some reason the ATMs aren't accepting the cards, for either TL or sterling. Has anyone else had this problem please?

If this is happening at various ATM's then in the first instance you should contact Barclays to determine that they haven't placed a temporary block on your cards for some reason. If they confirm that your cards are not blocked then try again or go to exchange bureaux which basically use the same system as the ATM's to obtain sterling or lira to see if that temporarily resolves your issue.

Yes the exchange bureaux option means there is no risk of your card being swallowed up which seems to be happening more and more now but of course if there is a block on your cards for some reason, then you may have the same problem so perhaps check with Barclays to make sure?

Barclays have an arrangement with TEB that withdrawals are without charge. However TEB limit the amount you can draw monthly on this agreement. This has just been reduced again so once you have maxed out you have to wait a period of time.
I used my wife’s card today and was paid the full sum I asked for. I then used my card and it was rejected. I decreased the amount with the same result. I then reduced it again and was successful . I have never tried to withdraw over the stipulated TEB amount and thus incur charges or if in fact this is available..I do not know what amounts are fixed by TEB you will have to ask them. Cannot help with other cash point machines other than to contact Barclays.

I did not know that, thank you. Think I'll have to contact them to find out their limits.

Jackvern,

Do you know what they have reduced the limit to now? Our friends are also trying to withdraw Sterling from Teb using their Barclay cards but cannot seem to work out how it works. Ie. What is the amount and is it a rolling month or calendar month.

Many thanks

Sorry Mrs D I have no idea. I think it must be a rolling month but it’s very hit and miss. Some cash points like the TEB machine at the university opposite credit West in Chatalkoy tell you have exceeded your limit but others do not. I just keep putting the card in and reducing the amount to be withdrawn. Not very satisfactory I agree. Perhaps helendj will be able to assist us when she contacts TEB bank.

Thank you susiesusie. I thought it may be a rolling account. I assume that is on the account
Irrespective of how many joint account holders there are , not each individual card.
