We have been waiting since December for our residency to be completed. Paid the health insurance and are informed the process is 60% complete.
We are informed that we can travel for up to 60 days. At Ercan today we were informed the 60 day rule was scrapped in February and we face a fine upon our return of 325tl per day. It seems that as usual people i.e. police, do not know the rules or the change of the 60 day rule has not been communicated. Please beware if you are in a similar position

Yet another example of how the left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing. Is it simply lack of proper communication or understanding?

If you have registered on line, had paperwork submitted and checked, there should only be the health insurance payment and actual residency payment to make.

People should not be penalised for something outside of their control I.e. the time taken to process applications.

If you have followed the rules, you should still be allowed to travel without the worry, stress or arbitrary time constraints. It really isn’t that difficult.

We travelled out and back through Ercan in February. Our residency also expired in Dec and we applied late November for it. Have paid Health insurance months ago and still waiting. We photocopied screen shot of the residency page to show where we are up to as suggested and attached to our expired residency paper. None of the customs/passport staff knew what it was and just kept saying expired where is residency you need to apply… Cannot understand what the hold ups are in the office as already checked etc at police station. It does seem unfair that you are penalised through no fault of your own….

The latest advice seems to be - if you need to travel and your residency isn't complete go to the immigration office with a copy of your travel ticket and they will expedite your application. Apparently, you can just turn up without an appointment if it's urgent.

I haven't seen anything about the travelling 60 days allowance being discontinued.

After waiting 3 months stuck at 60% made appointments this morning to go to immigration on 18th before our trip to UK. Couldn't get an earlier appointment. Its crazy, don't they want our money.

We arrived into Ercan on Friday - our residency isn’t complete.

I said it was in progress and that he should see it on their system - he said ok and stamped us 60 days.

I took a photo of the QR code saying - ‘Immigration Office is evaluating your application’ but when I tried to show him on my phone he didn’t want to see it.

We had the entry form printed … I had a copy of our residency stating it’s in progress on my phone as I thought wouldn’t be needed ….but then he didn’t bother looking at my phone
