Printer cost?

Has anyone bought a printer recently please? If so how much approx and where from, thanks.

When buying a printer consider the initial cost and relative cost of the ink cartridges, as I've found an inverse relationship often in evidence. i.e. a cheap printer seems to require the most frequent purchase of more expensive ink.

This ok for light use... but could end-up being more expensive for higher usage rates.

Sharaf, TechnoMega, Laconic all sell them. Check they also stock the correct ink.

I prefer Canon printers.

Just replaced my all in one printer with a eco tank model. Has no cartridges the inks are poured into their respective tanks. These printers do cost a little more then the cartridge type but the savings vastly outweigh this cost. Its worth looking on Google etc to get more info. Bought mine in the south but I'm sure they are available this side.

If it's an Epson Eco Tank model, then Epson support say that only the Epson paper is guaranteed to work without smudging etc.. They also mention label paper isn't supported. My worry is that in this climate, ink in the tanks might become prematurely dry.

The issue of drying out applies to all types of printers cartridge and tanks that why it is necessary to give the printer a run at least twice a week. Regardless of the manufacturer the tank printers will give a massive saving of money compared to cartridge type. I've read , don't know if it's true that the cartridges supplied with new printers are not even full. I know there is an option to "refill " cartridges with kits you can buy, I never had much success with them. As always its a case of researching the subject.

I have an Epson ink tank printer. I use any paper, no issues with smudging. So far no issues with the ink drying out either, although to be fair I do use it several times a week. I bought mine from John at Cartridge World, at the end of the row of shops past Pia Bella. He is very knowledgeable.

The Adventurer 3 Prusa 3d printer was recommended by a friend, I’m new to 3D printing. I searched for it on this site.
It’s just amazing. The bed size is slightly small but I haven’t found it an issue and makes the overall size very compact.
It takes the Flashforge 500-gram spools and, for me, they last for ages. I use PET G as my default filament and have no problems.
I did have an issue initially when trying to remove the ‘model’ from the print bed when finished and found the best solution was the ‘glue stick’ method, to coat the print bed first.
The easiest way to remove the print bed is to let it cool down, push down in the center with one hand, with the model still in place, and pull on the front catch of the bed at the same time with the other.

There are so many print shops here, I gave up a printer and just email to a print shop. No Jams, run out of ink, run out of paper, and a fraction of the cost.
