Ersem trading, opposite Starling supermarket,
they have a colour matching/ mixing machine.
If possible bring in a sampleof the colour.

It has never been successful. I have tried it but don’t bother anymore. You just end up with a tub of paint you don’t want so far better to to get a paint that will blend in on one wall or just repaint. Some times if you know the builder witch paint they us ask them to look in there book give your site and they may have it written down. Thats the best alternative

They do have a colour mixing machine, but the colour matching- if you don't know the colour code - is done by eye against a series of graduated colour charts - they're pretty good I will say, but it's often not good enough for patching-in.

You would normally need to do an entire wall.

As Gates suggests, ask the builder for the paint code and the manufacturer of the paint.

Paint matching ,although correct, does not mean that it will look the same on the wall, usually due to time weathering.
I have used the original paint to patch up and it is impossible to get it the same after only one year.
I have to add that Ersem trading have all our colours kept for future reference.

I agree that after even so short a time as a year, if you have left over paint it usually doesn't match a year later. One wall in my bedroom is a sort of plum colour but I tried to do some touching up and it's sort of ok, but have had to stick a chair in front of area I have painted.

Thanks for all your replies.I am aware that it’s never a perfect match, I have always taken a sample of the old paint to allow for fading etc. at least I now know where to go, now that Tayf no longer provide the service.
