Rental Tax
For information:
I have just been to pay rental tax for a 2 week holiday booking, the first time the villa has been occupied since late 2019. The tax office queried why nothing had been paid for nearly 3 years and I pointed out that no-one had been because of covid. They wanted me to prove that and suggested providing electricity bills to show usage. I asked what would happen if the owner came and used electric (as they will be for potentially 10 weeks from August) and was told they would have to show ins and outs as proof. The lady said she would process it this time but I will have to give proof next time.

Re: Rental Tax
As I understand it (Cop out!
) ...
If a Property has been rented out for any period at all, but you do not intend to rent it out again immediately, you are supposed to make a declaration to that effect to the Tax Office in writing. There may even be a form for this purpose, but you would need to ask!
You could be forgiven for thinking that they 'Make it up as they go along', but you can't really blame them for trying to beat the non-payers who make life more complicated for everyone...

I understand where they are coming from but it's just not practical for short term holiday lets especially when the owner lives in the UK. Was just letting people know really.

Re: Rental Tax
I appreciate that, and for a series of short term holiday let's without a really long extended period between, I don't think that there's any real need to make a declaration.
It's when there's several months or a year between bookings that there might be an issue.
... and it probably depends on who you deal with on the day, and what sort of mood they're in

Re: Rental Tax
I was advised a declaration has to be put in yearly with a stamp about 5tl making it a legal document or in between let's. If more than 3 months. Generally I submit one b4 January 15th stating the whole previous year and another from January to the first let of the season.

Re: Rental Tax
Is it a particular form that you use and do you know if it's something I could do on behalf of the landlord? Thanks.snd1966 wrote: ↑Sat 16 Jul 2022 10:58 amI was advised a declaration has to be put in yearly with a stamp about 5tl making it a legal document or in between let's. If more than 3 months.
