Crossing North to South in Nicosia

Am i right to assume that it is impossible if you have Ercan entry in your passport?

We hold Russian passports and were thinking about going to South part on weekend, provided we can obtain e-visas as we used to before...

Any advice is much appreciated.

Your question is not being ignored. I would hazard a guess most if not all here are not in a position to speak from experience of the current conditions of entry / crossing into the RoC from the north for Russian passport holders.

If you were to attempt to cross over at say Ledra street worst that can happen to you is you get refused entry and turned back.

If you were considering crossing with a TRNC registered car (registered in your name) you will have to use Metehan crossing point as on the RoC side (if you are allowed to cross over) you will need to immediately apply for a TOM document and with that, vehicle insurance. You may be refused a TOM with your Russian passport / driving licence. I really don’t know. I have recently witnessed American passport / driving licence holders refused a TOM document, being advised to hire a car in the RoC.

Be aware the officials issuing the TOM documents work Monday - Friday 08:00 - 14:30. Closing up at 14:30 sharp.

The TOM document is a basic acceptance of vehicle roadworthiness and may only be valid till midnight on the day of issue (for some passport holders). It is quite common for the officials to glance over the vehicle and can refuse to issue a TOM document if they decide it does not meet the RoC standard for vehicles. For example: tinted front windows, spot lights on the roof bar, winch at the front.

Is there not a Forum operated by and used more or less exclusively by Russian passport holders in the TRNC i.e. similar to this one. I can't believe they haven't set one up by now. They would be the people to contact I suspect.

I would park a car on a Turkish side, like i did back in 2010, somewhere near Ledra crossing, but we used to enter through Larnaca back then, so we had a provisa and had no issues at all. This time is different.

The problem is not Nationality its port of entry
Enter Larnaca and you can go anywhere North stay South wherever as the roc control the island for 90 in 180days

Enter Ercan or a North sea port it is an illegal port so an offence according to the roc
Manage to enter the South after entering via the North illegal port and nothing happens you have a nice day out and go back North
Only problem when you try to Enter the South 12 months later you have not left the South by an official port so overstayed the 90 in 18o day limit fine entry denial
So rules are Enter South roc go anywhere for 90 days in 180
Enter North stay North for 90 days in 180
Note each government have their own 90 in 180 day counter
So if you enter the country via one jurisdiction and leave via another you will not have left the island and exceed your stay
