Health insurance payment problems
Tried four times to pay the residency health insurance, never got the sms verification code.
Is it just me and is there a way to physically make the payment?

You must use a Turkish bank Card

Or a Turkish Cypriot Bank card

You can get a suitable 'Pre-paid Debit card' from Türk Bank .
You don't need a Türk Bank account and the card itself doesn't cost anything, you just go into the Bank and tell them what you want, give them the amount of money that you want to go onto the card, and make sure to tell them to ENABLE IT FOR ONLINE USE!
It should be ready to use online the next day.

I'm using a creditwest card. The problem is the final step!

Have you ever used it to make an online purchase before?
If not, then ask Creditwest to enable it for online use - otherwise ask Creditwest why it won't work!
Good luck!

Glad it worked eventually TML. Have had gremlins in the works trying to pay some online sites here, and sometimes takes a few goes or another day.

I think a whole load of their computer systems have Gremlins lately. It took me six times this week, using two cards, to get through to pay our Kibtek bill.

BB I sometimes wonder if it's anything to do with internet connection dropping. I had a problem last week with something (can't remember what it was now). When I checked my internet connection, it was up and down like a flipping yo-yo.
Not enough to be a real problem with browsing internet, but possibly enough to cause glitches when paying online. Of course this is a complete guess.

Re: Health insurance payment problems
Last year paid with Nationwide credit card for Hospital and Residency, no problems! This year could not pay “Koopbank” hospital fee for 2 years of 1977tl with Nationwide credit card - failed, Naionwide Debit Card - failed, LloydsBank Master Card - failed and Turkbank Credit Card obtained for express purpose of paying Hospital/Residency fees - failed!
Finally I used my Turkbank Debit card and the Hospital fee was accepted without any problems! Now waiting for the hour glass to change so I can pay for the Residency Fee - whatever that is as the information on the BRS free access site is out of date - will then just use my Turkbank Debit Card as I strongly suspect that Koop Bank have restricted payments to Turkish Bank cards only!

waddo, suspect you are completely correct. More and more local on line purchases are bouncing to Koop Bank and its they who saying yes or no. Its a real pain because you have no warning until you have gone through 90% of the payment procedure.

Re: Health insurance payment problems
My apologies to TFR, I misread the information regarding Residency payment costs, they were correct and I was wrong, sorry! I will edit my post for those who have read it and so as not to give confusion to others!

Re: Health insurance payment problems
If you are applying for temporary residency rather than exemption then you will have to purchase the mandatory state insurance which has just increased to 4346.90TL per year. If you're under 60 you will need to undergo blood tests too which now cost 3042.80TL.
If you are applying for exemption you may purchase state health insurance but only if you have had temporary residency previously and can use the residency number (under the barcode) from your certificate.
The state health insurance only covers emergency treatment up to stabilisation, i.e. ambulance and treatment in A&E at a state hospital, once you are transferred to a ward you start paying, though it is far cheaper than private hospitals.
You may be able to purchase private cover from a company like Azant. If you use the search facility on here you can find their details.

Re: Health insurance payment problems
Hedgehog, age always matters for private insurance - once you hit 70, like in the UK, you are written off as a bad risk and can't get health insurance unless you pay sufficient to fund your own private hospital - lol. For State insurance age is not a factor, TRNC have recognised the fact the old people get run down by vehicles just the same as kids do!!

Re: Health insurance payment problems
State insurance is requested and paid for as part of the online residency application process, no age limit.
If you have had residency previously and are now applying for the 5 year exemption then you can buy state insurance from this website
https://odeme.saglik.gov.ct.tr/?insuran ... 47&lang=en
Private insurance is available from various insurers but does have an age limit as Waddo mentioned.
