Olives and oil
Can anyone please tell me the procedure for taking the olives up to the factory in karsiaka. Do I need to take any bottles/ containers, do the containers need to be glass? Cheers..

Re: Olives and oil
You can take your own containers we have in the past used 19 litre water bottles or you can buy the yellow plastic containers at the yapi markets or at the olive press.

Re: Olives and oil
Olive oil is sold commercially in tins, plastic bottles and glass... when at the olive press, nobody uses glass, plastic containers are the norm with 5 litre water bottles being the most suitable and easy to decant into 1 litre glass bottles later.

Do yourself a favour and take a drive out to Şirinevler factory which is a left turn off the back road to Nicosia by the Kirni Piliç signs. It's a few miles along this road. A TC friend told us to go there rather than Karşıyaka. They are very friendly and helpful and will deal with small quantities. You can buy the containers there too.Stevechips wrote: ↑Mon 17 Oct 2022 2:57 pmCan anyone please tell me the procedure for taking the olives up to the factory in karsiaka. Re: Olives and oil
I took six bags of olives to the Karoaglanoglu press on Sunday morning on the advice of a neighbour. I got there at 9 and was home at 11 with the oil. Much friendlier and organised than Karsiyaka where I usually go Mehmet takes your name and shows you where you are on the list so no queue jumping as happens at Karsiyaka. Downside is less room for unloading as it's on the roadside. I use those yellow containers they sell at every yapi and China bazaar although most locals seem to use re cycled 19 lt water containers.
