Locks here are generally what's termed Eurolocks and are held in place with just one screw that is located behind the plate on the edge of the door. It will mean removing one door handle and the square bar that goes through the lock to both handles. Only a screwdriver required. A very easy job that takes less time then it takes to boils a kettle!

Thank you all for you in put thus far: i have done meany lock changes myself here, and in the uk over the years. But what this job is, it might be a forced lock change which can only be done by someone with the right tools and parts.

In that case you need the locksmith in Girne just along from the State Hospital - he can open a door without the key, change the lock etc almost in the blink of an eye!
