PC in Safe Mode

Can anyone tell me how I can take my PC out of Safe Mode? My husband accidental pressed the enter key at the wrong time and and I can't figure how to change it back to normal

just re-boot the computer and it should just start up normally

mickhm, unfortunately that hasn't worked - it was the first thing I tried. Actually I'm becoming accustomed to it. The Screen has far less rubbish all over the place, the set ups for Forums, Emails etc are simpler and clearer. It hasn't made a scrap of difference to Iplayer etc and provided I'm doing no harm, I might just leave it!!

While booting up your computer press F8 then pick normal mode to boot the computer.

OK karmels, will try that, but just as a matter of interest, am I harming the PC whilst using it in safe mode and why is there something called Safe and Something called Normal. I've often wondered but never discovered the reason. Thanks

You are not harming the computer running it in safe mode. What safe mode does is start windows up with the minimum of applications and services and drivers running at start up. So if you have something like iplayer desktop that normaly runs automaticaly when you start the computer, running it in safe mode will stop this from starting up when you switch the machine on. You can still run it manualy after the computer has started up , it just wont start up automatically when you switch on.

The reason for safe mode is you can instal a program or driver on the computer that sets itself to run automatically on start up and it actualy causes the machine to crash or not function properly. So by using safe mode you can get the computer to start up so you can then remove the offending program or driver. Without safe mode you would not be able to get into the computer to unistal the program or driver.
