Need help with my Chopper
Anyone with any experience on Raleigh Choppers, preferably 1973 Mk1? Actually the year is irrelevant up until Mk3. Or is there a bicycle maintenance person / repair shop anywhere?

Re: Need help with my Chopper
Thanks for that Keith i know exactly where the first one is.
MVP, not a problem per-se, at the moment. I've bought one and the gear shift needed some typical parts replacing such as gear table, orange gear indicator, window and 1, 2, 3. I was about to order all from E-Bay and treat it to some new cables etc and noticed the gear shift mechanism isn't standard, but before replacing it with a standard set-up I'm trying to find out what's on there now. You'll see it hanging down under the frame, which a Sturmey Archcer would not.

Mk1 gear levers are very rare and mega expensive if real originals.
Watch out for scammers
I would join one of the chopper Facebook groups and get one from a trusted source

Re: Need help with my Chopper
Trouble is I don't do Facebook or any SM. No time. I found a Raleigh Chopper Owners Club website, but it's years out of date. EDIT - Apparently the Mk1 Gear Shift is the Round Knob and the Mk2 has the T-Bar. Either will do for me but if i can get ther proper Mk1 it would be more suitable. Assuming yours has the round knob, does your assembly hang down under the frame? In which case my assembly is correct but the T-Bar is wrong?

Actually MVP, Keith having pointed me in the direction of a bike shop, I'll PM you if that's ok as it's not really Cyprus related from here on.

There used to be an old chopper for sale outside the antique shop across from the Mosque on the back road to Ozankoy.

Oo another one Kerry. I'll take a look in September when I'm out again. When you say "back road to Ozankoy", do you mean the one where the Stone Castle restaurant is somewhere on on the right as you're just getting in? Same road with, is it the British University on the left coming off the first roundabout? Sorry i don't know many road names or where they are, just points of reference along them.

Its the end shop in the row of shops where Uncle Sams is across the road from the large Mosque and Starlings supermarket, between Bellapais traffic lights and Bellapais roundabout.

I went to the chemist in that row of shops this morning and parked opposite the Right hand end shop - it appears to be a Gym or something now...kerry 6138 wrote: ↑Mon 24 Apr 2023 1:20 pmIts the end shop in the row of shops where Uncle Sams is across the road from the large Mosque and Starlings supermarket, between Bellapais traffic lights and Bellapais roundabout.

That's Ali's place, World of Antiques. That's the Chopper i bought. I've got all the parts now to take it back to standard.
